Treatment of Away Fans

Ok I feel I should say something about this.

I was one of the 50 or so today who came down.

10 stewards on 50 away fans to start with is just plain daft - we are possibly the most senile fans in the league!

SEcondly, HALF of us get threatened with eviction for calling the referee a w***** and to**er during the game once or twice when he makes a wrong decision - don't all fans do this?

Someone took a photo of a steward for a laugh on his phone and he got threatened with being chucked out unless he deleted all photos of the days game.

The rain started and we wer eleft in the cold during allof half time and half the second half. Just when it's about to stop we are told we can move if we want.

Some people said "No point now, already soaked" - so the stewards pulled faces and said "Fine, only trying to help" sarcastically.

We did move into the shed bit and I found the occasional banter between the fans reasonable.

Thankyou to the few fans who applauded us at the end - that meant alot after a defeat like that.

Also when I started singing "We're gonna win 5-4" on my own in injury time, the responce was good.

I know the stewards aren;t your fault, but a day that started well with nice sunshine and a reasonably good looking ground was turned sour by the safety officials and stewards at your club.

Good luck for the rest of the season, but I can't say my trip to Gravesend was enjoyable on this occasion.

Matt.

As noted on your messageboards, I think the majority of our supporters couldnt believe the way you were dealt with yesterday.

All we can do is apologise and hope the club take note of your thoughts,(and indeed those of our own supporters) both on this board, and on the Scarborough messageboards.

Isn't it like everything else in life, though? If someone showed some common sense (ie. the stewards) instead of sticking to whatever letter of whatever law guides them in these matters, the Scarborough fans wouldn't have been forced to sit out in a rainstorm.

And as for ejection for calling the ref a w@nker... half the home fans would have to go as well! Ridiculous.

I thought the treatment of the Scarborough fans was totally scandalous. We are supposed to be one of the friendliest clubs in the Conference but the stewarding of 50 supporters who were never going to pose a threat to anyone was so over the top its untrue.

We are always quick to condemn those who are less than friendly to us but in return we should hold our hands up when we have made a mistake in return.

I hope the club makes an official appology to those TRUE FOOTBALL supporters who made a long journey and were treated with LESS than the kindness they deserved. But I'm not holding my breath.

Interesting, of course, that Graham S has been videoing at games for some time now, and has (as far as I can tell) never been warned about it - and quite rightly so. One rule for home fans and another for away fans on this occasion, it would seem

Thats a good point mate, why post something intelligent when you can post something like that.

I can only imagine your part of some chav crew (oh look it even says so in you name) so this is not an argument I'm going to lose.

As an 'Outsider', may I make a point, please ?

Maybe GNFC should seriously think about changing/educating their stewards !

We know a stewards job can be a thankless task, but at the end of the day, they are the front line of the Club's Public Relations.

If they are unhelpful/aggressive to away supporters, away supporters will quickly get 'the message', and STAY AWAY.

Net Result ? Lower gate money !

Think about it - It ain't Rocket Science !!!
