Real shame that Andy's goalbound volley at 4-0 hit the defender - that would definitely have been goal of the game.

Looked like it was going wide to me, Alan, but still, he made a fine connection with it anyway.

I don't know why, but I left the game feeling a bit bewildered rather than delighted - probably something to do with the fact that it was just one of those days where everything seemed to go right for us. The excellent 15-minute spell of play Scarborough put together in the second half only for us to score the fourth was a prime example. Scarborough were poor overall, particularly in the first half (as Alan says, how did Hackworth miss that double chance?), but they weren't as bad as Tamworth were the other week in my view, and didn't really deserve to get tonked 4-0.

Another fine goal from Jay - not quite as impressive as his shot on the turn at Tamworth, but nonetheless an excellent effort. Out-scoring each of the club's forwards overall now, of course. Nice to see Ben Surey get a run-out, too - at least Liam still knows he exists! An improved display from Pinno, too. As for Manny, let's hope the injury he apparently had isn't too serious, and that he will be available for the Stortford game, given that Roy is struggling for fitness and Siggy will be unavailable.

I agree with the sympathy for the away supporters - it can't have been nice. Two weeks in a row there have been downpours during the game, meaning everyone has to pack into the Stonebridge Road terrace, where the view of the pitch is frankly vastly inferior to the one you can get at the Swanscombe End. Still, 4-0 - shouldn't really be complaining!

I found the chants directed at the halfway liners pretty tedious, actually. If you turn up every week, not singing doesn't make you a bad supporter. There's no reason why you should have to sing at football matches if you don't want to. Chants should be directed wholly at supporting the team really, rather than creating animosity between fellow Fleet supporters - however light-hearted the chants may have been intended to be.

I left the ground with a feeling that it all slowly coming together again. Team spirit is there, a willingness to outwork the oppo, and a genuine belief that we can win.

Liam is showing his true colours by keeping faith with the players who finish games (Gledhill and Pinnock spring to mind,) when it might have been easier to pick Bunce as a natural centre half and give Moussa a run out.

In both cases, Liam's judgement was spot on.

We are also ditching the long ball game for our favoured passing game, doesn't it pay off!

Difficult to pick out individuals, but a big well done to Conkers, has been criticised at times, but is proving a worthy successor to Matt Lee as a utility defender, he and Prothers really seem to have developed a good understanding.

And what a nightmare for opposition left wingers.... confronted by two quality right backs!!!

A couple of good moments from Sigere but for a big man he didn't win much in the air, still it would be churlish to critisize after a 4:0 win.

Of course, on the other hand, didn't he look big and strong and very capable of holding the ball up?
A more physical and hard-working version of Roy?

Early days but very happy with Sigere's performance today.
Drury looking on song too!

One gripe - is Lovell taking over in the greed department?

JC,

I have this suspicion that Liam was deliberately protecting Manny ahead of the Trophy game next week.

He may have aggravated an injury in training, but imagine if Manny did get injured ahead of next Saturday - we could be down to Pinno up front, given that Siggy is cup tied and Roy is likely to be touch & go on fitness.

Indeed JC, and if we're looking at who makes the most noise, then the halfway liners are probably second to the behind the goal gang - if you're going to have a go at the silent types, then the tea bar/main stand/various other pockets of supporters are surely even less vociferous...?

Indeed John, and I think you'll see that most halfway liners took it in very good spirit. But 12 year olds like superb might like to wait until they have 40 years' Fleet service behind them until commenting.

seeing as a large proportion of the drum crew are conspicuous by absence at away games when the halfway line are all there.

is it difficult to type and raise your handbag at the same time !!

Just nice to now have enough fans to have a bit of banter. Long may the fan base continue to grow, and various factions develop.

We want our Plough End back

Not only the away supporters got soaked a lot of our own supporters were also given the same treatment. All for 20mins of tolerance,Its a pity the stewards did not play as well the team,in the common sense game as I listened to a life long supporter being berated for trying to find some cover.Come on Brian get it sorted please.

Bunce was unfit anyway, supposedly.

A good point.

And Stu, although I would personally avoid using the 'we've been going to games longer than you' strand of argument, I'm largely with you on this.

I'm soory to see some of you people are sorry for the away supporters but lets look at it another way. When you go to away games (and lets presume some of you do/don't go)is there no cover for the away fans? So if it rains whether it be 5 mins or 30 mins don't you get WET? Do the stewards there say 'Lets move them under cover'? No because a majority of the time there is no cover, so you have to get WET. As for the stewards to not move them straight away it's not up to the steward in front of you, they have to get permission from the Safety Officer to see if it safe and as there was an incident in the first half. They waited untill it was calm before making the descission to move them. Plus when the desission was made then they had to get the area that they were going to move to segragated of. Only then can they move. The stewards have done a very good job this season and should be complimented on the fact. Whether they were asking for cups or tea or not lets not have a go at them.

How many of you would do there job???
