Stables in St Albans

Cant believe how many stables there are in and around St Albans. In the last couple of days i have visited about 8 but i'm sure there are more its just nobody knows about them because alot of the yards dont advertise.

 

The hacking around St St Albans is meant to be amazing and supposedly people get horse boxes to St Albans just so they can go hacking which is pretty impressive.

 

Can anyone think of any shady stables they have seen in St albans and i'll tell you wether i have visited them yet.

 

Been to one or two where it costs about £150-200 a week to keep your horse cant bloody beleive it.

A rough guide to Essex/East London prices....

 

"DIY stabling" :

stabling & grazing: from £25pw

hay, approx 3 bales pw = £12pw

hard feed, approx £5pw

turnout, £2 per day

shoeing approx £70 each time

 

Full Livery : can be as much as £200 pw

 

It's the vet's call-out charges which are a crime!

There are quite a few stables around Harpenden - think they are all a bit posh though judging from the huge 4x4's parked outside.

I used to see people riding thier horses past my house in Marshalawick. Are there stables in that sort of area?
