And as for the anonymous poster, using the Daily Mail as one's source means the argument is automatically lost. The papers cherry-pick the statistics that suit their political stance - after all, you could just as easily mention the fact that international migration is at its lowest for 16 years.

So what defines a racist?

I have friends in both the Asian & Black communities.

A lot of them, like myself, are absolutely disgusted at the sheer number of bogus asylum seekers let in. Does that make them racist too?

 

Yes, I used the word bogus - whilst, there are genuine cases, the majority, I would suspect, are most definately not. As somebody mentioned earlier, economic migrants are not in danger & therefore become illegal immigrants by default.

 

This is a major issue for a lot of people.

It doesn't make them racist for having concerns.

By attempting to silence people's concerns, one makes extremist parties more attractive to these same people - something that would make things far, far worse!

From the Daily Mirror to the Guardian to the BBC, Most forms of media which we rely on for news in this country have certain political stances which they don’t try and hide in their reporting, therefore most people tend to buy newspapers which suit their own political allegiances. I agree with a lot of what a read in the Mail but not all of it for example.

As FF say’s freedom of speech regarding immigration and asylum is totally stifled in this country, even to the point where if somebody mentions when debating the subject that stricter measures should be introduced in order to reduce the number of bogus arrivals they are suddenly branded a racist or far-right.

Why is it that racism only seems to cut one way? Are no other races or religions racist? There are clear divides in certain parts of the country between Jamaican’s and Somalians, Iraqi’s and Kurds, Hindus and Muslims, but the only people who are branded as racist are British people. Did the murders of Gavin Hopley or Kriss Donald receive sufficient media coverage in this country? (Who? your asking as you reach for your search engine).

This country has done far more too welcome new arrivals than most other European countries or most countries world wide for that matter but we are made to feel racist because we start to question our generosity. Council’s the length and breadth of the country line up to rename Christmas to so not to offend not Christians, Our own patron Saints day is hardly celebrated (although this is now changing), whilst foreign holidays like Diwali, Ramadan and Hanukkah are championed by left-wing councils for the enrichment and cultural-diversity that they bring to this country. What about out culture? Many British people don’t even know they have a culture because it’s been so eroded by the multi-culturalism.

Not really, given that Britain has an obligation to accept them under the Schengen Accord.

I don't think that is correct JC, from what I have been able to find, the Schegen Accord only applies to free movement within the EC, and, unless we have signed up recently, we are not yet signatories to it.

 

"The Schengen agreement currently governs the free movement of people between EU member states, with the exception of Britain and Ireland. Two non-EU states, Norway and Iceland, also are signatories to the accord" (this is dated 1st November 2003, so may be somewhat out of date)
