Can anyone see how we'll improve from yesterday?

 

I see Stortford signed the Wycombe FA Cup hero, Roy Essandoh the other day.

 

This fixture will not be able to go to extra-time like most of our Stortford games have. So we must get the job done! 19th in the Premiership after opening day is not good. Even if two teams above us haven't played a game yet. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/let_it_all_out.gif" alt="" />

We were in the same position last season Matt, losing the opener, lets hope the new signings can settle and start getting into their stride. one or two more games and I reckon we will see a much better Canvey side. fingers crossed.

Actually we beat Chesham 5-1 in last years opener then lost 3-1 at home to Aldershot, but I get your point Canfan. <img src="/forums/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

oops! still my feeling was very much the same last year as this, nothing to worry about yet! the difference being so many changes to the squad, could it have upset the apple cart a bit to much, will the team gell in time as to still be in contention for the title? all a bit early to start talking of such things, but at present I have not seen the squad play as a team.

hehe i also reckon heat has an serious adverse affect on attendances.

Depends what we are or wish to be

If we are a Hayes long ball outfit then we are short of real leave em dead pace up front

If we are a keep it on the floor football side then that begins at the back

What you cannot be is a long ball team minus genuine fast pace up front or a football side that continually misses out mid-field

a mixture of the two is fine BUT even the mixture calls for very real pace

 

the coaching staff will get it right

Looking forward to travelling to Canvey, as long as we don't miss the ferry. Hopefully our inexperienced defence will cope on the "big stage". But don't take us lightly as our lads will certainly be up for it!!
