final score 2-1 so we're off to bishops stortford on march 12th.

 

It wont be easy there, though as they've now beaten both Daggers & Canvey in their trophy run, and they've only lost 1 of their last 10 games overall (including 6 victories) and are undefeated in 6 home games.

I went to the match tonight I thought Canvey were awful,their goal was a result of the defence not clearing a free kick properly,and it was hoofed back in to be headed past the keeper.Stortfords first goal was a good one a low volley from the left of the box which whipped past the stationary keeper. Their second was a bit lucky a kick from just outside the area which hit a Canvey player and looped up and over the keeper.I have got to say that Stortford played the long ball all the time and were caught offside all night.If our boys are on form they will have nothing to worry about on the day. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Playing Stortford has all the hallmarks of an upset if we aren't careful.

I think if we go there and play to our capabilities then we should win. The new manager seems to have instilled fresh confidence in the team and if we can secure a couple of home wins before the trip to Bishop's Stortford then confidence should be high. It will be a tough game but it would be great to reach the semi-finals and we have a very realistic chance of doing so.

It may be a struggle without a centre forward & only one centre-half though. Hope Liam is looking
for 1 or 2 new faces. With the 2 games a week program for the rest of the season (let alone the Trophy) we may well need `em.
Anyway at least there is now no risk of witnessing that Fat B*st*rd gloating!

Liam's main problem will be getting a striker/defender who isn't cup tied. A loan player from the league may be the answer. One of his old Birmingham/Coventry contacts might be handy!!

Not saying that either side would have been easy to beat, but I think that we got a better draw here.
