TONIGHT IS OFF - STFC v Hendon

Yeah real positive that Woody. The pitch is now likely to have four games a week for the rest of the season minimum. That's if we can get through them. Let's hope this does not cost either club come the end of the season. But there is nowt we can do about the weather.

Yeah that can't help at all but i guess they have looked at other places in the past but it's not be worth it.

Reports last year said that the area between the ground and the row of tree's would be made into a training pitch but that's over a year ago now!

It's one of those things - I wasn't at all surprised though when our secretary phoned me as I approached Junction 5 of the M4. It's no-ones fault that the rain came when it did. Means I get to watch the Sheff Utd replay instead.

I am starting to wonder if we will go the whole season without playing Hendon. This is getting daft.

The trouble is on here only the other day we discovered that every Tuesday is booked and well if you mention a Wednesday we have the joy of Mal telling us which Capital League game it is booked.

Let's hope for a dry moderately warm spell.

Have to say that once again tonight communication from the club was very poor about the likelihood of the game being off. On another thread Andrew S says that he spoke to the club at 5:45 who said the game was on and a guy we spoke to in the car park said he had rung at 6:15 and was told that the game was definately on. Yet when I looked at the pitch there were puddles so big that they must have been there easily by 5:30 as the rain had almost stopped by 6:30-7:00. With the fact that Slough play 'away from home' most people have to travel at least 20-25 minutes to get to the ground and most probably aim to arrive by no later than 7:15. Therefore to see another game called off just over an hour before kick off is bad enough, but not to be given an adequate report on the state of the pitch when ringing is even worse.

Yeah Radders,

As a result of that, I left for Windsor, but due to the traffic in Slough it took me over 45 minutes to get to the ground from Burnham, and arrived in time to meet all the players leaving! I felt a right idiot having posted that message, and sorry if I misled anybody - it certainly fooled me!

We really do need to get a better system. I rang the Slough Town Office a couple of times in the afternoon to get the ansaphone message that the match was on tonight, but that message was for AFC Wimbledon last week!! So I rang the Windsor number given on our site each time, only to be asked to leave a message or send my fax now.
I must admit I was very tempted!

Finally at 5.45 got through to Roy to be told it was definitely on....

Still I did get to drink my half time cocoa for the Sheffield/ Arsenal Game, so it wasn't wasted!

Horsham, do you have a mobile? I text people the instant I hear the game is off (managed to get a fair few texts sent last night) and am happy to add your mobile to that list if you want?

If so, drop me an email with the details rather than post it on here. gary@sloughtownfc.net

This goes for anyone else as well.

No worries Budders. I'm not sure if everyone on the first list got it though as I had a phone call as it was sending it out and it appeared to stop sending.

Radders, did you get a text from me last night? You're some way in on that first list, so if you got it, the majority on there did at least!
