whilst stumbling about the internet in a vain attempt to avoid work yesterday i stumbled across the American Health and Human Services web site http://www.os.dhhs.gov/ something looked very familiar, I wanted to post straight away but thought hell I will wait till today. I went home and watched a film (as per usual) this time choosing to watch the documentary Super size Me (very funny well worth a look) and lo and behold there it was again, in the back ground when a person from the Health and Human Services spokes person was talking. take a look at the picture and see if anyone else thinks their logo looks a little familiar

Blimey - Familiar ain't the right word! At least we added the circle and a bit of Latin.

 

How long have the club used the current logo - does anyone know when it was introduced?

 

I can either see a law suit springing up in the states <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

 

Newsflash - Canvey Island become richest club in the world due to yank stealing copyright on logo - damages would be hughe. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

More the merrier.

 

Can see it now - Americans launch invasion on Canvey Island after George W Bush confirmed weapons of mass destruction and a copyright infingement on Washingtons public health organisation logo. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Bush also commented that the trade in candy floss and caravans will also cease to be a problem for other free and democratic nations.

I think, in all honesty, we stole from them. Look carefully at the logo you can see 3 faces. I can see that relating more to the health service than to Canvey. Absolutely no relevance at all.

 

I say the designers of the Canvey logo stole it, cheeky bastards!

Not sure I like your tone - we can't go around saying that Canvey stole it (although I think your right)- we will have god knows how many Anonymous posts on here saying people on Canvey steal everything and comparing us to the mafia - oh they already do..... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

 

Anyway the badge suits us a lot better - we wear it with style. Presume then that the bird is not in fact a Seagull but an Eagle in which case its a cr@p illustration.

I think it was 2000-01 to mark the 75th anniversary of the club being formed. I've got a pennant that I bought in 2000 that is the old design with the Essex swords and also have a team poster from 1999/2000 season and the shirts have the old design so the new one must have come in the following season.

I have spoken to my friends at GCHQ and they tell meb this was being used 20 years ago.
