Good To See You Yesterday

It was good to see you all yesterday for your 1st game in the Conference this season. We scraped through it in our opinion and I dont think youll struggle if you keep that up.

Your fans too were a credit to you and it was nice to see everyone smiling at the end, although we are dismayed at Stansfields injury (broken in 2 places),he really was a rising star.

Still onward and hopefully upward.Very best wishes for the rest of the season.Phil

Thanx dorset phil ytfc!!!

Yesterdays game was brilliant, apart from being close to a heart attack.

I now have a lot of respect for yeovil fans, and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere.

I just hope that teams in the conference, will look at yesterdays result and give us the respect we deserve.

I was really proud of our players yesterday, the all ran their hearts out.

One complaint i have though, is the fact that why do yeovil fans call us COCKNEY W*****S, have they not got a map or ever heard of the bow bells!!!!

I wish a speedy recovery to Stansfield who broke his leg.

Yes....for the Yeovil fans without a GCSE in Geography, Gravesend in in Kent and not a suburb of London, and nowhere near Bow. However, this may change if Blair, Prescott et al continue with their plans to Tarmac Kent !!!

I feel another revolt looming !!

We know our geography (most of us!!) its just a bit of fun, we get all the tractor jokes!! Last year in the trophy semi at home to Burton we were chanting 'dirty northern b*st*rds' and they are undoubtedly midlands. Their reply was excellent, a banner at the away leg saying "If we're northern you are Cornish" Brilliant!!! Thats what football is all about, banter and NO violence isn't it, me old china??!!!

Well done yesterday, we were well below our best and a fair result,

BTW Demba DID handle the ball B4 the sending off.... sorry!!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />

Somebody on the Yeovil Ciderspace board suggested we were a "Big Physical Team", to which I responded by suggesting they should try playing some Ryman League teams.

I also commented that I thought there was hardly a bad tackle in the game - certainly not malicious anyway & this is a response I got :-

Hmm. Thought there were far more little trips, shoves, nudges, shirt tugs etc. from Gravesend than is usual in Conference games. Reminded me of the Margate style when they came up from the feeders last season.

See there is a lot of criticism of Mr Woolmer on your forum - with people disappointed the reffing standard in the Conference doesn't seem any higher than you were used to in the Ryman. Unfortunately you'll find he was about par for the course........ and there are plenty worse :-( . The general consensus around the Conference is that officials have been getting worse over the last couple of seasons (with a couple of honourable exceptions).

I cant believe we were any worse than most Conference teams with "little trips, shirt tugs, etc" and equally I hate to think that our style of play was reminiscent of Margate's last year - mind you, if we finish as high up the league as they did, I wont mind that comparison !!

Ah yes......geography O levels ( as they were in my day )....when you didn't get 50% of the marks for spelling your name correctly !!

You are indeed correct old chap.....however, there appears to be a bit of a language barrier here ? " me ol' china" ???...a bit too Londonesque for me...although I did have a Chinese takeaway last night...but I don't suppose you care about that ? ( it was very nice by the way !!).....so

in a very nice North Kent way...all the best for the rest of the season, apart when you visit the picturesque North Kent Peninsula......if Blair hasn't built an airport on it by then ( as Wat said...revolution is in the air !! )..............toodle pip old chap.......

I'll be there (hopefully) Hirsty, freezing my nuts off as it will be January.

Best of luck for the season. Wish you all well, except of course for that date in Jan, we'll be well into our stride by then. ;-)

Yes...sorry, didn't realise it was Jan 4 you were visiting. There can be a bit of a chill when a North Easterly wind " wooshes" up the Thames....but who knows ? with the current climate, it will probably be a nice sunny day !!

It will be good to see you all....

Cheers,

Superb day out yesterday - Its great to be back amongst the big boys again.

All the team played well, but our midfielders deserve a lot of praise. Tireless in their running and closing down, and ever quick on the counter attack, and weighing in with two goals. When we had even numbers on the park, we more than matched them in that department.

If thats the best of the conference, we've nothing to be scared of.

I cant understand these 'Big & physical' jibes, quicker, motivated and more team orientated I would say. You certainly couldn't tell who the full timers were.

Well done Sturge - Desperately unlucky to be sent off, and although very new to the squad, settled in straight away and showed as much commitment as the rest.

Keep it up boys, we're all behind you

What a fantastic return to the Conference. Only thing missing was 3 points. With 11 players on the park we would surely have held on for the win.Thought our support was fantastic. Even though we were outnumbered 10-1we certainly let the lads know we were there.

Missed the first goal and the unfortunate leg break as we were examining

the rear axel of a tractor on the A31. We had discussed the possibility

of arriving at the ground and being 1-0 up but still couldn't believe it.

The defence and midfield were magnificent, but for me the MOM was

Paul Wilkerson. He completly dominates his area and must instill so much

confidence in the back four.Would like to thank the steward who showed concern when my lad was hit in the face by a stray Tostao shot during half time and apologies to the Ambulance men who checked him out. They offered to run him to the local A & E but said he'd miss the seconed half ! No need to detail the reply.

If Andy and the boys give us another 41 games like that we will probably

all need medical attention.

Great performance, great day, great memories.

Now bring on the Dagenham
