Mentioned it elsewhere on here not so long ago - August or September 1990, Enfield v Dagenham, Steve Grenfell of Dagenham rolled a free-kick from 25 yards out back to his 'keeper Dave Morgan (incidentally in the days when they could still handle backpasses), except Morgan wasn't watching and was standing by his other post at the time.

Leyton Pennant, first home game of the 1998-99 season, Benno tripped over Peter Ward and scored the pen himself to equalise just before half-time. Went on to win 3-2.

Michael Milton's effort off his gonads was rather titivating at Hullbridge just before Christmas '95! The day of the champagne breakfast in the Lamb at 6am! Ended up with toast and a pint of bitter.

There were a few 'keepers that were crap in the second half at Sungate, but the particular incident you have brought up seems to have passed me by. Probably when I was on my one-man boycott of home games.

The only such incident I can recall at a Romford game was when the Met Police 'keeper went off for reasons unexplained early in the second half at Imber Court in March 97. He certainly appeared to be moving a lot more freely afterwards, although whatever his incapacity had been might explain why he had dropped Mark Reed's cross right at Alec Norman's feet in the first minute of the half - so it might have just been a problem with his contact lenses or something.

No it was at sungate but then I often talk cr*p so as I said prehaps I was confused.

No dark secret really. Had a tear up with Goodwin at Barton and then decided to boycott home matches whilst he was still in charge. Didn't really achieve anything I suppose. My biggest gripe with him was the fact he was allowed to split the bar from the football club for supposed VAT reasons. That will irk until my dying day unless anyone can come up with a good reason as to why he would have done it.

Well, if it left the football club financially worse off, which it did, then it couldn't have been for the sake of strengthening the football side. Therefore it could only have been for commercial (or possibly legal) reasons .. go figure!

Well, duh! It means he was only ever in it for the money! Anything which drew profits away from the bar was therefore a Bad Thing. Having lost his (probably perfectly legal) VAT relief the year before he was probably trying to stop it getting any worse.

His no. 1 son, the Chairman (name?) had a pop at me after the famous abortive AGM, but nothing more materialised. I often wonder where we would be now if Micky from Barkingside (Goldfish time, keep forgetting names), had got in that night. It always seemed odd to me that Goodwin said he wouldn't be standing, then changed his mind and suddenly all these new members turned up on the night.
