Gladwish and Crawley divorce!

Anyone see the article in the NLP?

A major falling out, Mr.G feels he has been upstaged by the Crawley chairman and rarely gets a mention, including not a high enough profile whenever Crawley appear on the TV (they should be so lucky)

The upshot is that he will withdraw his sponsorship at the end of this season.

Yes. Referred to by Graham S & JC on the video clips posting further down the page.

Must admit, I'd always wondered why Crawley got away with not having to wear the blue & green away kit.

VG certainly seems to be following us enthusiastically at the moment, but this illustrates that you can't take anything for granted as far as sposorship is concerned.

Don't know how Crawley will get on. At least they have plenty of time to find a replacement, but getting one as generous as Victor G could be difficult. If it had happened to us I think our Conference status would be out the window - but we'd still survive. Unlike those clubs who are entirely dependent on a single benefactor for their existence.

Surely he'd be up for a new Gladwish Stadium built in Gravesham, with a pitch separated into blue and green halves, and a nightclub attached to the side called Vic's!?

You don't need Crawley, Victor, you need to invest in a club going places....

How about a pub called "The Queen Vic"?......well you never know he might like that sort of thing.

What, sort of implying that Mr G is a 'Queen'..?
Yeah, that would really boost our credibility with one so important to us as Victor..!!

Interesting thread on the Crawley site. Their fans are not happy.

One of them e-mailed VG, and this is the reply he got:

Quote:
The comments I made!

Its true we are packing in the sponsorship and I would have relented on

Monday before I saw the televised version I would have relented during

this week until I read the last comment in the NLP saying what I said

was untrue but it is true!!! For the money I pay them I can get far more

thanks from EVERY other club that I sponsor who in some cases get 40

times less money!!!

I still tried making them part of things and invited them to our FA

Trophy weekend, One Duly accepted the other does not bother to answer.

I asked all teams to text me their results on my mobile, most clubs did

this Saturday, Crawley Town did not bother!! Crawley Town ownership does

not want to help their sponsor as far as I am concerned. The denial in

the paper I could run over with another paper word for word on what was

said. They should admit where they are wrong!!!!

That Crawley are second seems to be the problem, maybe THEY are thinking

too big and forgot who helps them. Being second does not give me any new

business from Crawley, I have one buyer of land in 18 months!!!!

Regards

Victor

The last paragraph is particularly revealing.
