Billericay 4-1 Cheshunt

A better performace in difficult conditions and against some unbelievable and crass strong arm tackles. First half performance was one of the most clinical this team have displayed up front, especially after the penalty (another to Leon, who is proving himself to be one of the coolest takers ever played in a 'Ricay shirt). Nathan bags two but the goal of the game for me has to go to Paul Armstrong. I'm pleased for him that he broke is duck for us.

2nd half, Cheshunt made it difficult for us as they played a bit stronger in the middle. Shame Kerrigan's shot didn't go in, a thunderous shot about 35 yards out...what is it about the left back position? Actually, after some bench "encouragement" in the first half, Kerrers put in some bloody good saving and covering tackles. Forbes aslo played well after his "missing in action" last week, proving that when he plays well, the midfield plays well...the trick is to get him playing more consistantly.

Overall, it is difficult to pick a man of the match but I will go for Matt Game. His passing was sublime in the first half.

This was a comprehensive win and will send us into Tuesday's big game in good heart.

As I am the first to knock him, I have to say I thought Steve Forbes was our most influential player in the first half winning the penalty, having a "goal" somewhat mysteriously ruled out and generally bossing the midfield. It was a shame he picked up a knock just after half-time and had to be replaced.

The other big plus for me was how all of a sudden we seem to have any number of options down the right flank with both Matt Game and Paul Armstrong performing excellently in unaccustomed roles. With both Kieran and Cuz having to sit this game out the choices now look endless!!

Leon again cool from the spot, a first goal for Paul Armstrong and another couple from Nathan (who has the potential to be a top top player). A shame we couldn't manage a clean sheet but that's being picky.

Roll on Tuesday..

I was dead level with the linesman and he got it spot on, it was offside.

The game was over by half time and the second half was very much spoilt by the pitch turning into a skidpan (v funny when nathan used their centre half as a surfboard!). First half we passed the ball well despite the sticky pitch. We always seem to play and create more when we get the ball on the floor, knocking it high and long doesnt suit us although you know nathan will chase anything you launch at him. My MOM would be nathan, he scored 2, ran and ran. Cheshunt's blonde lad in centre mid (number 4 i think) also had a good game. Overall I think they were one of the poorest sides we have played but thats not to take anything away from us, the scoreline should have been more.

oh and how poor was Redington?!! he should have been off before half time.
