Bleepin' Balls

Recommended Posts

I see footballs law makers are expected to give the go-ahead on Sunday to BALLS that BLEEP to referees when they cross the goal-line.Earpiece will "bleep" when this happens.

Surely the ref will get bleeped everytime the ball crosses a line including the centre-line,the side-line and goal-line away from the goal. Would have thought the ref would have tingling in his ears come the end of the game.

These balls are set to be introduced at next years world cup finals.

There is still some more testing to do yet and the balls are made by Adidas/Cairos Technologies & radio communications firm Fraunhofer.

The technology allows the exact position of the ball on the pitch to be monitored throughout a game and to be displayed in three dimensions.

Once the ball has crossed the goal-line,the referee will automatically recieve a "bleep" in his earpiece.

As the football league don't use Addidas balls the further testing,in real games, wouldnt be possible at the highest level in this country so would have to be tested in another country.

What do you think of that then?

Yes, that would be about right! And what happens if the ball crosses the goal-line in mid-air. Wonder if it will see that and manage to "bleep" then too.

whats going to happen is the the whole goal will be covered in sencors causing a force field and whent the chip inside the ball crosses the line it will send a signal to a reciver pack on the refs arm causing it to flash and beep.

The chip would logically be in the middle of the ball, hence only half of the ball would be over the line. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

The sensors would be placed an appropriate distance over the line!!
