Nathan, he did miss a lot of handballs, he missed alot of everything, I was talking about the one in the box.

It was an absolutely brilliant goal for our first though. their keeper didn't stand a chance, I hope we have it on tape, even if it was at the other end.

there was a number of strange ref decisions today... am still stunned that no-one got booked in the metcalfe incident how can you see one player pick up another by his ankles and fail to do anything?

i would have sent off the G & N player for mailicious conduct and yellow carded Mets for minor retaliation. Not responding didn't help the mood of the game as it was already tense with G & N playing bully-boy tactics throughout (another point i feel was a little card shy, at one point i'm sure our skipper was being placed in a head lock)

I do think the first two goals for G & N were soft from our point of view... as i said to a few people today i think the problem may lie in a)allaway's confidence in his area and B) the constant changes in his defence... certainly communication needs to be worked on there

As for the third, Omoyinmi made a superb run and deserved the good finish

Perhaps the positives we can take from this are:

a)Michael Murphy scoring two very good goals and seemingly appearing a lot more comfortable in this new wing-back role

b)the fact that we never let our heads dip

c)ian hodges' superb defence work, showing that he is as versatile as any of our players

d) the fact we gave a side who are divisons above us one hell of a scare

Just heared the interview...from the Gravesend manager...quite fair, even though he thought they deserved the win , due to their honesty and disapline...It was great to hear him say at the end , hope there don't have to many matches like that again ! speaks volumes for our Slough performance !

Just bloody Great you Slough Boys ! in fact i thought we deserve at least a replay !

We are 2 divisions below them ! playing a new formation and way , since Haddow's left , we adapted to the pace of the game well and gave them a good run for their money !

A few mistakes of our own doing gave them the win , not them making the chances ...

And it was a deliberated hand ball in the penalty area ...the number 22 gain an advantage of josias no question about it...!!! and their 3 goal had a hint of a push on Hodgie...before he scored...

so all in all a great day for Slough ! Our supporters were seconded to none...fantastic effort...all round...

Tonight I am one proud Slough Supporter....

up the Rebels....

shame our supporters never got any covered segregation or that some of lady supporters were not allowed into the stand ! ....we have had bigger crowds at Slough (windsor)This season and provided the away fans covered areas and seat in the stand...its ashame that when you go up the football ladder things like fair play for other supporters go out the window......next time think of your guests and treat them like guests....

Would you like your supporters to have been left out in the rain.......

Even though we were knocked out today I agree it was a damn good effort by our boys today.

I personally think we could have played better and kept the ball a bit better at times, but maybe that's just me being overcritical because I know that we can keep the ball very well.

Two divisions above us and who would have guessed it - they beat Carlise recently and have been on a good run. I think they just about deserved it, but if it had gone to a replay they could not have argued.

Great support and despite the rain I personally thought it was good we were segregated as normally we have fans scattered around the ground, so it was good to get everyone together - be interesting if anyone from Gravesend could see how many went through the away end turnstyles. Great support as always.

Bit disappointed with the first goal. Thought Shaun should have come for it. Did not see the second as I was in the bog(!) and the third was a shame as Hodgey was MOM in my opinion. Still think we need to get Murphs back there and Hodgey up front though, so need to get Danny Steer fit or a new left-wing back in as I think we struggled for pace a bit at the back at times - especially their 5 Omoynimi.

Thoroughly enjoyed it though - was like the old conference days and what a bargain you can get on a small bag of chips and a drumstick in Northfleet!! Rol, on Tuesday!

waawaa referee cost us blah blah blah. The last time I checked the object of football was to score more goals than the opposition and we didn't today but played bloody well. I really wish some of our fans would stop constantly going on and on and on and on and on and on about bad bloody officiating and actually admit that sometimes we don't create enough

Good Slough performance IMO, thought we gave a very good game to a team with several quality players from two divisions higher. I thought we deserved a replay but to be honest we did not want an extra game. Highlight for me was the heroic defending of Hodgey in the first half that saw Essandoh go off injured. Just shows the commitment and spirit our players have. Hodgey gave 110% despite playing in out of position which must be disappointing in big games.

Need to get behind the players now for Tuesday - the proper cups are over let's get a string of good league results together.

You're right Mr. Crispy... we don't create enough and never will whilst our strike partnership is Matt Murphy and Matt Seedel, IMHO. And we need to properly replace Alex Haddow so we can get Hodgey out of the back 3. He was magnificent again today, especially with THAT clearance, and proved that he can play centre-half against anyone and do well - but we really need him up front.

I can't really say we were terribly unlucky today, but I will say it was a gutsy performance, again, against a team higher up in the pyramid. Yes some decisions went against us but how much did we create to counter it? Murphy's first goal was a special long range effort and his second a decent driven shot that Wilkerson really should have dealt with. Apart from that, Wilkerson was hardly troubled. OK the Gravesend player handled the ball and the referee didn't see it/didn't deem it worthy of a penalty - but these things happen in football, and think of all the lucky decisions we've had going our way to help us along in the FA Cup and Trophy.

The trouble is Matt how do you replace a player like Haddow? There are not too many of them about. Personally I think get in a quick centre back and keep Murphy at wing back moving Hodgey back up front.

You could be right Martin. Murphy looks impressive when attacking, as seen for the first goal, whilst also being a great defender.

But the key thing in my eyes is breaking up the Matt Murphy and Matt Seedel partnership. I don't think it works. Obviously Eddie rates Matt Murphy higher than most of us do. If we had cover for the left wing and/or central defence I'd play Hodgey up front and look to sign someone with a bit of pace and skill to play alongside him because it's sadly lacking with the current strikeforce, and I think it's costing us !!

hmmm... i too am a fan of matt seedel and i think his strength is the fact that he (like hodges) is sturdy and won't be bullied by defenders... but we could seriously benefit from a pacy striker and in MY humble opinion..i don't think matt murphy is pacy enough.... this is not to say that he is a bad striker, his record clearly shows otherwise, but like a few other rebels here i don't think the matts' partnership works

I disagree to an extent. IMO Smurf2 has been a really good signing for us with his experience and his finishing ability. On Tuesday night and in many previous games he and Seedel have run defences ragged with Smurf2's hold up play and Seedel's ability to get past players. As I think Gary pointed out today the problem was the lack of service and support for the front two who were left isolated too often, but against a team from two levels above us it was always going to be tough.

I tend to agree with Radders. Smurph2 is a very intelligent player and whilst not the fastest, is a better link player than any other striker we have. At first I was worried he might not score too many but have been proved wrong on that.

If you think back, Hodgey wasn't setting the world alight this season either when playing up front which I still think demonstrates how much we miss Tony Boot and his ability to create a real partnership with another striker. It's not fair to criticise Smurph for not being as good as Booty.

As for yesterday, the midfield didn't really support the front two so they were left isolated trying to create things on their own. Josias had a go at getting forward but was invariably dumped on his backside which the referee failed to do anything about.

I think Seedel has come on well this season, but is still too easily shouldered off the ball. When he overcomes this he will be a regular choice, but its something he needs to work on.

Under normal circumstances we doubtless would have given you some cover under one end of the Stonebridge Road side (i.e. the roofed terrace to your right yesterday). However, with the Northfleet end (the roofed terrace behind the other goal) currently out of action after a visit from the Fire Brigade's health and safety executive, it's a bit of a squeeze to give all supporters in the ground cover when it rains.

Best of luck for the rest of the season - we really got out of jail today!
