We have a local ref coming over in the morning to clarify whether the game can go ahead or not.

Pitch inspection at London APSA tomorrow at 10am by the match Referee, Groundsman claims pitch is covered in snow and not playable.

If there is a doubt in the playability of the pitch it is better that the game is called off at 10:00 rather than 14:30.

that is an interesting view, surely it depends on suspensions and injuries and a host of other things

It will take at most an hour to get to AVELELY from Burnham. Surely the pitch inspection should not be till 1:00 pm at the earliest.

 

It is better that it be called off at 1:00pm than called off at 10:30 am and playable at 3:00pm.

 

Having once gone all the way to Southend to be told by the gateman it was on when the ref called it off at 2:30 when it was clear to any idiot that the pitch was unplayable and not likely to have been playable at 10:30 am whats with these early inspections!!!!!

The benefit of early inspections is that it allows plenty of time to get the word around, stop people travelling and/or allow them to make alternative plans, and players who work Saturday morning won't have to worry about getting away on time etc.

 

It does of course help if the person doing the inspection has a bloody clue what they're doing, which has been open to question at times. Borderline decisions are possibly influenced by pressure of fixtures, it's not as if a postponement now is going to cause considerable problems later in the season as we are all so well advanced on fixtures so it might be better to save unnecessary damage to pitches.

oh please..... this is the ESL not Euro championship, travelling is 120 mins max, a pitch inspection @ noon is realistic.

 

Inspection @ 10:30 tells you the decision is already made.

 

My understanding is the only person who has responsibility to call a game off is the match ref. He/she may rely on local report but it is their decison
