Gravesham Council

Bearing in mind the uncertainty that has been caused by Gravesham Council 'speaking to Gillingham FC in recent months, would it not be a positive response to the flak that they have rightly received that they make a goodwill gesture to 'The Fleet', and pay for the repairs to the Northfleet end of the ground. Surely this would prove their commitment to the local club.

Afterall they do appear to have loads of spare cash.....a pier that still can't be used after gods knows how many years of standing empty, a colonade around the clocktower in a derelict part of town, etc etc.

£80k? small change compared with Dartford council's commitment to their local club.

I agree it would be nice if they were to assist the Club with the repairs but they may not consider it good use of local tax payers funds unless the assistance was by way of a loan to the Club. That said, they have been helping the Club re Beauwaters recently.

As for the Pier, a restaurant will be opening soon, the application for a liquor licence was in the Reporter today. I think you'll find that much of the money provided for Berkeley Crescent was provided by English Heritage.

Also, they probably wouldn't see it as a project of long-term value, given our club's negotiations with them over a site for a new ground.
