I'm a f'boro supporter living up in sheffield, and i go watch the owls when they're at home. We've just signed Rocastle on a free, and i saw last night that he'd played for you a few times. In fact he was very complementary in the programme! Just wondered what you guys though of him, because he looks so out of his depth in league one. Was he a class above in the conf?

He didn't play for us in the conference, he had a couple of matches in our Ryman Championship year.

 

Quite frankly I'm suprised he remembered.

Yep! Bit of a slip that one. He seems to have been around quite a bit, but in an interview he was comparing Gravesends style of play to the owls and reckons it will help him fit in here. He also reckons your manager made him feel lucky to be a footballer or something. He seems to have a bit of a problem heading the ball... Never know, he may come good, but any more of the crap he played last night and i think he might well be on his way again.

In his somewhat limited time with us he did some things that made you think he was playing at least 3 divisions below himself, then he'd do something that made you think he was 3 divisions above himself. I was suprised he was signed up by Chelsea, I think he is destined to be an alright league 1 player, nothing more.

I remember seeing Craig play in a pre-season friendly we had at Weymouth when he was simply excellent. He scored for us I recall. I was disappointed that we didn't keep him more than a couple of months. I wish him well at Wednesday. David (his cousin I believe) is of course no longer with us and for his footballing skills is sadly missed by all true supporters of the game. kmj.

Craig was wiv us at slough b4 he went to chelsea and i cant understand how he got into chelsea coz he dint really stand out for us and that was in ryman div 1.

No, you're right. He left Real Madrid when they signed Zidane, and took Roy Keane's place for a while at Man U...

He only went to Real after a loan period at Inter Milan, played in midfield with Paul Ince.

Real Madrid, indirectly (after a short loan spell at Ajax). Since then he's done a European tour of all the best teams: Bayern Munchen, AC Milan and Internazionale, Barcelona, oh and then Yeading. He ended up at Farnborough by mistake.

Can we please call Inter Milan by their real name. We dont like it when people call us Gravesend FC. Its Internazionale.

 

Craig Rocastle also played for Harchester United I believe. In the same season that Hucknell (Dean, the older one) and Fletcher were banging them in together at the Dragons. He played in the midfield creating the balls for them to latch on to. He was best mates with the young Irish guy, Conner, who turned out to be guy which then led to whispers about Craigs sexuality. He later left the club after a massive homophobic campaign, by the fans, against him.
