Tonight's Plans

Recommended Posts

Seems Mrs Zeal is out for the evening having a few jars with Mrs Winn, so YB941 5thD EFM ~soul~ has been left holding the baby!

Still, means I get free reign over the TV tonight, so we'll have a bit of Coronation Street at 7.30pm followed by Episode Six of the Beatles Anthology, which covers June '66 to July '67 give or take a month.

Get the Dylster off to bed about 9pm-ish, hopefully he'll settle down nice and quickly, and then whack on the Norah Jones DVD whilst having a go on the guitar myself and try to write a new song. Never seem to have the time for song-writing these days.

Hot Chocolate is beverage of choice.

Urgh! Cherryade. Pure sugar and water.

I think I should try and get into tea, but would only do so if it's the proper stuff. None of this teabag nonsense. And I can't be arsed fannying around with all that.

Tempted to order myself a curry in Mrs Z's absence tonight too. Only problem with that is, I'd have to have a couple of beers to help wash it down.

Mmmm. Beer....

I to the Twinings Chinese stuff but I don't have a teapot so it's the teabags for me.

As for curry, that's the only time I miss beer (or cider). I used to like a few Cobras to wash down my Vindaloo. It's not quite the same with a diet Lemonade. I'm still searching for the perfect, non-alcohol curry-drink.

No, I'm not off the alcohol. Just not having any tonight.

When did I have my last drop? Err.. a glass of wine on Monday night that I didn't particularly want, but Mrs Z cooked a nice meal and poured me a glass, so I obliged.

I still want to pack it in completely, but I simply can't do it. I've tried and I can't. So doing now what I've always failed to do in the past. Cutting down.

Limit yourself to drinking maybe once a week and then have a few pints on that day. You don't have to cut out completely just cut down gradually.

Errr.. righto Thornsy.

Yellow - tried that. It doesn't work. With all due respect, if I was the kind of bloke that drank just a couple of cans of SKOL on the way to a Trophy match in Yorkshire, it may be a little easier. Or, for that matter, a couple of bottles of Smirnoff Ice over the course of a gig.

I'm not.

CANV. Merchandise. I think we're on the same wavelength. Nice one!

Not really the point of my post, but yes, he doesn't know he's born when it comes to heavy drinking.

Of course it's easy to cut down and only drink once a week if you've never been much of a drinker anyway.

It's a lot harder for the likes of you, me and CANV.

I've been bloody impressed with you mate, and don't know how you've managed it.

I've tried every which way but loose. Cutting down. Cutting out completely. Limiting to 1/2 nights a week. Limiting to 4/5 pints per session. Can't do it.

And I don't even enjoy it any more. Most of mates can be split into three categories really, none of which make good drinking partners.

1) Those who no longer drink (fair play to them, but no good for having a session)

2) Those who I rarely see socially anymore (other responsibilities and don't come out much now - fair play to them too)

3) Those who rather stick powder up their nose than drink, which is no fun for anyone (unfortunately the crowd that go to away matches, hence my non-attendance these days)

Problem is. Even when I don't fancy a drink, I still end up having a few, just through boredom. So next thing you know, you're watching Coronation Street or A Touch Of Frost, and you've done the best part of two bottles of wine. By the time News At Ten comes on, that Jim Beam is getting another look in.

And so it goes on.

I need a new hobby, I reckon.

I don't know how I've managed it either. I have a lot more time on my hands now I don't have to go round the last two aisles in Northernsons or take the stroll up to the offie. Or having to spend twenty minutes at the bottle bank every week.

I miss the hangovers though, especially on a Monday after a Sunday spent guzzling cider all day. We always have a team meeting early on and I used to try and time the breath fresheners just right.

Who else fits into catagory one above?

dude when i move back to st ablbans in August i'll def come around and share a nice bottle of whisky with you while we put the world to right.

I really dont drink much and havent been out for about two months.

Me and Lucy are spending about £150 a week on looking after our horses. So not much money for the beer abd riped shirts.

My lecturer found out about me recently buying horses and asked me what the hell i was playing at. Had to tell him to pretty much fock off.

On Sturday and sunday i started to canter on Alban first time i did it, i nearly came off because the two horses seemed to want to race each other and my reigns were abit long. Horse riding is quality and when you start cantering off into the open countryside its such a buzz.

Spoke to fenton about getting a good quality shot gun so we could start going shooting when i get back. We could actually get a good gang of us together. Everysunday morning up at 6 go shooting and then i nice bifg fried breakfast for our hard work.

Laz i know you like animals but i think you would be a really good shooter.

Zeal i think you would be pretty handy with a shotgun too. Countryside is the new rock and role so lets role.

Zealster, are you hinting that Yellow is a lightweight?

Compared to you guys I'm pretty much a lightweight but then I don't drink spirits, have always been a beer man.

I certainly couldn't give up drinking completely. If I go nearly a week without a drink I'm gagging for a pint but by some standards that is pretty good.
