Next Season

Are we not all expecting this? We are having a big old debate about it on here - it isn't going to come as much of a surprise is it?

I don't know what the rules are about applying to switch leagues so I can't really comment.

I am not saying we are not expecting it, but the expectation has come of the back of a lot of speculation.

An official notification should be coming from either he FA or the respective leagues.

I was alwys under the impression that applications to any leagues was by April 1st.

The other issues for clubs in our area are that you have to decare to the Berks & Bucks all league and cup competitions you intend to enter for the season. If we don't know ahich league we will be in then we can't declare them. If we don't declare them then they will not sanction the game.

Obviously this is all speculation but we know from being switched from the North to South division in recent times that another tends to be fairly accurate. Basically with the restructuring they will just have to wait and see what teams are at what levels and shoehorn them in as best as possible. Could see a lot of movement and some strangely mixed divisions. But I doubt clubs will hear anything official until it is very clear who is going to be playing what level of football.

Perhaps the reason for the accuracy is that the "Powers That Be" use another's site so they know what to do!!

Fair enough Mal, but all this red tape and other nonsense just goes to show you what a sorry state we are in. In the last five years Slough have been in five different divisions albeit in part it is down to relegation and last season's "promotion."

Andrew may well be quite right.

Speaking of which Martin, I just found this on the FA website in its National League System regulations

Quote:
4.2 It may be necessary from time to time to move clubs between leagues at the same Step to accommodate the movement of clubs by normal promotion and relegation. Where this is necessary, no club will be asked to move more than once in every three seasons.

If this is true, and obviously is dependent on exactly what it means by 'between leagues' (i.e. does this mean southern to isthmian or could it mean intra-isthmian) then we might not be asked to move over to the Southern league, given Slough were moved from Division one north to division one south two years ago.

Interesting. And note the choice of the word "move" which makes it sound like something the FA would do rather than rely on the clubs to make applications.

Agree with Tuffley that Southern would be better, purely from selfish geographic reasons. Gloucester, Cirencester, and Evesham all less than 30 minutes drive rather than nearly 2 hours.
