Does GNFC have a firm?

That's a big problem Harry, because the fans seem to invent rivalries out of sheer boredom (like that ridiculous 'build a bonfire' chant - put the Daggers in the middle? Why???). We just have to deal with the fact there aren't any teams around who hate us enough back to give a damn about our thoughts. Besides, teams often lose points against rivals, so we are lucky not to have any (we just have to deal with bogey teams like Burton, Northwich and, beforehand, Telford...).

On the other hand a rivalry is very useful to entice more supporters along to games. For instance how often to we see a club struggling all season with poor attendances only for the visit of a local rival to result in a full house. Not saying that a visit from Dartford or Maidstone United would attract 4,000 supporters but if we were ever to face either of these two in a Conference match then the attendance would probably be our biggest of the season with both teams bringing large away followings. Likewise if we were ever to face Gillingham in a competitive fixture, their supporters would be guaranteed to travel to our place and we’d return the compliment at their place.

Yes, but of course it only works if it's a real, mutual rivalry, and not just one that our desperate supporters have thought up.
