Nationwide South 2005/6

Nos

Recommended Posts

Based on the various league positions as at Feb 19, the following would make up the Nationwide South next season, according to another.

http://www.tonykempster.btinternet.co.uk/maps05-06.htm

Basingstoke Town

Bishop's Stortford

Bognor Regis Town

Braintree Town

Chippenham Town

Dorchester Town

Eastbourne Borough

Farnborough Town

Forest Green Rovers

Havant & Waterlooville

Hayes

Hornchurch

Lewes

Margate

Newport County

St Albans City

Sutton United

Thurrock

Welling United

Weston super Mare

Weymouth

Yeading

We would, therefore, lose Grays Athletic, Cambridge City, Carshalton Athletic, Maidenhead United and Redbridge but gain Forest Green Rovers, Farnborough Town, Yeading, Chippenham Town and Braintree Town.

Bedford Town would go into the Nationwide North and in the unlikely event that another southern team from the Nationwide Conference was relegated e.g. Gravesend or Canvey Island, the most northerly of the 22 teams above, Braintree Town, would also go into the Nationwide North.

Interesting.

Dear oh dear, mate. Surely you've been watching football long enough now to know that's not the case.

So Lippiat's won six of his last eight games in charge. Yes, it's a tremendous achievement all things considering, but let's not get carried away.

I mean, just a few weeks ago, Martin Jol, to use a familiar example, had won six of his last eight games, but it would be ludicrous to turn round and say "hey, if he'd been in charge of Spurs since August, we'd qualify for the Champions League", cos it simply wouldn't be true.

And Spurs' loss of form and subsequent results over the last four or five weeks have proved that.

The majority of managers will take their teams through a purple patch at one stage or another, particularly near the start of their reign when players are trying to impress and win places.

I'm not trying to belittle Colin Lippiat's achievements - the way he's turned things around is nothing short of remarkable - but let's not get carried away and come out with any more sweeping statements like yours.
