I know this may depend on where you live, and I expect that Harrogate Railway Supporters may eventually venture onto this forum so I'm sure they will understand my worry. In the South of England last night, we had a touch of snow !

 

OK ! They were putting weather warnings out on TV and radio late last night.

 

This morning, Big J.R. wakes up, pulls back the bedroom curtain and spots a mainly green lawn with a few sparse patches of snow here and there.

 

Settles back into bed with the newspaper and turns on the bed-side radio to the local radio station, Mecury Radio, based in Crawley ! Ooooops ! P'raps I shouldn't have mentioned Crawley after last night ! [color:"red"] (Sniggers into coffee !!) [color:"black"]

 

LOW AND BEHOLD, I hear of MAJOR transport disruption in Surrey and Sussex. Motorists have phoned in to say they have been jammed in snow for AGES. [color:"red"] (PARDON ME ????? WHAT F'CKIN SNOW????) [color:"black"]

 

NEXT, I hear that schools may be shut because of freezing conditions and teachers may not be able to get into work !!!!!

This is the South of England. We haven't even had half an inch of the f'ckin stuff and life and the South of England is grinding to a halt.

 

This ISN'T Siberia or Canada or Alaska, or even where young FleetUSA comes from. (He regularly gets a foot overnight ! [color:"red"] Lucky basta*d !! [color:"black"] )

 

Talk about an excuse not to go to work ! I can't wait for the rail operators excuses this evening, and [color:"red"] PLEEEEZZ [color:"black"] don't offer us the 'Wrong Kind Of Snow' excuse again. It's worn a bit thin by now.

 

RIGHT ! I'm donning me arctic clothes, putting me snow shoes on, getting the Huskies out of the shed and trekking to the local Post Ofice. As Captain Oates famously once said,

not surprisingly, after the heaviset snowfall in the First Great Western Link area (Paddington to Reading), the trains actually ran on time as oppposed to the 45 minute wait I endured yesterday

C2C line has been fine this week. Think it's helped that the kids have been off school this week meaning less traffic on the roads and an easier journey to work. I shudder to think how long it would have taken me to get to work in Southend if the schools had not been off!!

Well, I made it to the Post Office and only lost a couple of Huskies on the way due to extreme cold exposure.

 

Helped a couple of Eskimo's re-build their blizzard damaged igloo's, and managed to make it home again !

 

Not a word from FleetUSA ! Has he been snowed in at last ?

JR mate, it's just another example of Blair's namby pamby state. A world where Jade Goody and Jordan are allowed to become celebs whilst not actually being skilled at anything.

 

A world where if a player raises his foot more than 6 inches off the ground it is dangerous kicking.

 

A world where saying Aussie is not racist but saying Pak* is
