If a club like Gillingham cannot attract new supporters in Gravesend playing in a brand new state of the art stadium with first class leisure facilities and transport links, entertaining League teams, then what chance have you lot? Not being funny but your club has struggled for years to attract support and who in their right mind is going to want to take their children too dilapidated; crumbling Stonebridge Road when then can come to our super stadium?

Why exactly is it stealing supporters? There not Gravesend supporters they’re neutral supporters – soon to be Gills supporters. Your dreaming if you think that Gravesend will ever get anywhere near the League. As I’ve said this is it for you. You should be happy that you are where you are and that your attendances have risen from a couple of hundred supporters a few years ago.

Typical retort by a myopic chav. Are the new Rainham End, Gordon Road and Medway stands not all brand new? I have been to Preistfield and (apart from the away end) is a very comfortable, pleasant and totally adequate stadium for your needs. You rarely fill it- I bet there will space tonight despite being an important derby.

The Scally has been bleating recently about Chartlon stealing Gills fans from the Medway Towns by using subsidised coaches.

Are you too stupid to see the similarity?

The Scally has proved himself to be a hypocrite, and is simply using the franchising of Gillingham to support and finance his new "business ventures" when he leaves Gillingham in 4 years time.

What a totally selfish "supporter" you are. Only wanting to relocate because you live in Gravesend. You are in a very small minority of real Gills fans if you want to leave Medway. Also take the time to re-read some of your posts. You must be the most patronising poster to visit this site this year. kmj.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Gills fans who come on here are niave in the least.

Our council wants to make a name for its self, and Scally wants to make money..

The council being ' Gravesham' not Gillingham or Medway.. wants to put GRAVESHAM on the map.

What better way to do it than having a football league team.

They think, being blinkered by Scallys plans , that the best way to achieve it is franchising a team in. Then, rather like the MK Dons did ,they will bastardise the name to something that represents their area. This may not happen straight away as they will need to keep the Gills fans happy for a while as there would not be a sudden local surge in support for this new club, but then after a year or two it WILL change.

I want league football in the borough with a team that bears the borough name. The council could deliver it, but just not in the way that I or any other true footie fan would want.

I would much prefer them to support their own local club, which is only 1 rung below league football already, and one that has already grown rapidly in the last few years.

I just hope that the Gills fans who want to remain called Gillingham and based in Medway realise what they will be signing up for if this plan takes place. Its head out of the sand time lads.

Wayne - fair point but then if Gillingham do change their name to Gravesend then where will that leave GNFC? I would imagine playing host to crowds of 198 or 217 about three divisions below where you are now.

Gary - chav? hardly my firend, I would imagine significantly more comfortable than yourself. And what has our three new stands got do do with it eh? It's all about the area. We can capitalise on the success of Ebsfleet whilst it will pass you slack jawed yokels by.

Why are you so goddamned interested in us anyway? You've made your point about the imminent collapse of our club with only two souls watching, while every other inhabitant of the town flocks to see the spanking new Gills in their spanking new Gravesend stadium, built by His Holiness Scally, and you feel mighty superior cos it's nearer to your home and you've proved yourself right.

OK. Fine. Now bugger off and leave us remaining few Fleet fans to wallow in our crumbling squalor. I'd rather not be lectured to by some dimwit who thinks he's talking to a load of kids simply because he supports a team a few leagues above. Well done.

If this happened then we might well be playing in front of crowds of 198 or 217, but there would be a GNFC. Where would Gillingham FC be?

Where do you lot get this name change idea from?

Trust me, there’s going to be no name change…

Gravesham Borough Council is helping Gillingham Football Club insomuch as they are assisting with the relocation and so on, whilst Gillingham Football Club is providing the Council with a League team to play in their Borough – providing further inward investment in the area – something GNFC are simply incapable of doing.
The name Gillingham FC is already well known in football circles and since the move is geographically different to Wimbledons relocation then the name would remain Gillingham Football Club. There’s not a chance of me being wrong on this score so if you choose to doubt me know then you’ll just have to wait and see the mocking directed at yourselves when I’m proved right.

You’ve had your change and you’ve pretty much blown it. After achieving Conference Football you have failed miserably to establish yourself as the boroughs football club and there are already more Gills fans in Gravesham than Fleet fans. When we played you in a pre-season friendly a couple of years ago we outnumbered you in your own stadium (if you can call it that) and the only Gravesend flag I saw contained the Gillingham club crest. We take more supporters to way matches than you manage at home so let’s just see what happens eh?

Why can't we acheive league football tell me that.

A year ago Crawley were chasing promotion to the conference they acheived it, they remained part time and remain so now. They currently occupy second spot in the Conference same position as us and ready to make the step up.

Its also worth pointing out that Aldershot got into last season's playoffs as part timers I believe.
