A town like Gravesend could support two teams.

Have you ever witnessed the apathy among the town-centre populace on a Saturday? If the town ever supports more than one team, it'll only be because the new residents are less bone idle than the present ones.

You only got just over 1000 last week against Tamworth and just 600+ in Trophy games. Yeah good supporters you lot are. Still when you start doing better you will all climb out of the woodwork and proclaim yourselves to be the 'best most loyal' supporters in the land! Tin pot doesn't begin to describe it.

The troble Gillingham have is timing. They got up to Div 1/Championship when a few big clubs fell down into it. West Ham, Sunderland, Leeds United even Wolves are a potential big club when you take into account they made the premiership and gates have increased since they were last in this league.

When you look at lower league football unitl the eighties ninties clubs had to be elected in/out of the league so didn't happen very offen. When Wimbledon went up they maintained part time status, could that happen now? But then when you had a "Giant" coming down every season it was hard for some clubs to keep up which is the trouble the Gills are having now.

The situations replecate each other. Gillingham are a club going from the lower depths of the football league trying to go up a gear, much like one of the lower clubs in the non leagues. Now what you have is two many giants in the kiddies pool in both situations.

The good thing Gravesend have on their side is the Thames Gateway, and if it's not a good thing then why is Scally trying to cash in on it?

Aldershot, Barnet, Carlsile all brought 700+ down to Stonebridge Road. Tamworth brought about 100 if that. Had they have brought down more fans the crowd would have been bigger.

That means you had about 900 of your own fans there then? Woweeee well supported club you are. Pardon me for asking but when are you proposing to go full time again??????????????????????????

Bags of concrete are more your priority and a Bodgit and Scarper builder to lay your terracing, the closure of 'Your End' just about sums it up. Nice one, most decent clubs care about fans safety, yours dont.

Good evening,

I am not sure which Mr/Mrs/Ms Anonymous you are ? maybe all of them or maybe just the odd one or two ? However, just one question to you if I may ?

Why do you, and when I say "you" I mean "you" as an individual & not "you" as Gillingham FC, want your team to move from Gillingham to Gravesham, surely that will further more lose your identity ?

I would be interested to hear your opinion, if you have one ? rather than you just come on this board to post banal banter & do youself the injustice ( possibly !) of portraying yourself as a complete idiot.

Your shout now me ol' china..make it good please....

Regards,

Exactly Hirsty.

I welcome any Gills fan ( Not Scallys henchmen) on here to explain why the move is good for them, as they will be signing over their league franchise to a neighbouring borough to rename and rebrand them.

i don't think that the pennies dropped yet in the Medway. And the ranting from this kid, just shows it.

Just hope it does before its too late.

I wouldn't get drawn in on any attendance debate. We can only concentrate on our own, and this has trebled in the last 3 years.

Not sure how many Gillingham fans are on here, but not all the anonymous messages are from me.

I honestly don't believe that Gillingham will change their name. If they did then it would be worse for GNFC than if it stayed as Gillingham. If the Gills were re-named Gravesend I think that would pretty much be the final nail in your coffin, if however we remained Gillingham then I reckon you’d be okay.

With regards to not being able to attract 20,000 supporters then again we'll see. I believe we will, you believe we won't. Trust me though even if we attract only 1,000 new supporters after relocation (unlikely, I know) then its 1,000 supporters which could have been going along to Stonebridge Road – the more fans we attract in Gravesend the less it leaves for you.

As a Gravesend based Gills fan I can see the benefits of the club reallocating to this area. Transport links to the Priestfield Stadium are poor; there is no room for redevelopment, no leisure facilities and so on. Ebsfleet would see us playing in a state of the art stadium, with first class transport links, excellent leisure facilities and the support from the local council. I’m not trying to have a dig when I say this but you have to admit that we have a far better chance of attracting new supporters in Gravesham than in Medway – and within Gravesham we would rule the roost, therefore it would put us way ahead of yourselves with regards to attracting support.

Message to all GNFC fans. Please ignore all anon posters, and like the Gills in league football, they WILL go away..!!

Let them build a new stadium, we will need the capacity when we are in the Championship, and all those wannabe Gills fans will convert to us...

The dwindling fanbase of the Gills will be the final nail in their coffin...

Scally is desperate, and it shows..!!!

What utter crap is being spewed on this thread by anon Gills supporters. I know scores of them, I live in Gillingham, work in Chatham, play cricket for a club who can raise a Gillingham supporters cricket XI. 95% of my friends, who are a mix of age, colour and creed and are a good representative sample of their support, have NO desire to move to Ebbsfleet, but to redevelop in Medway.

Don't believe all the guff pumped out by the Scally in claiming Medway Council have not helped out in finding a suitable site. It is the Scally who has rejected all offers so far because of his blinkered attitude to wanted to franchise (then sell his shares) Gillingham to where he believes he can "steal" a new fanbase.
