Oh the irony.

(I know we're being admonished for our pedantry here, but I couldn't resist highlighting this one <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />)

Serious question alert -

Mr Anon the Gillingham fan.

How will you feel when Gillingham FC changes it name to incorporate its new location ?

Secondly, does it make you feel big to come on our website and slag us of for being a smaller club than you. Please let me know if it does, and I will make myself feel tough by slagging off Dartford on theirs.

Thirdly, our manager would beat yours in a fight.

I don't think Gillingham will change their name. We'll always be Gillingham FC - we'll just have a stadium a few miles away in Gravesend.

Secondly, no dosen't make me feel big at all. It's football though isn't it? banter and all that. Charlton fans can do the same to us. I'd take it. wouldn't like it but it's football isn't it. Feel a bit sorry for GNFC fans having such potential support only for us to come in an nick it but it's life isn't it? we are ambitious your not. Gillingham and Fleet would be able to survive in the same town, although the rivalry would be fiercer than it is now.(don't want to groundshare at all costs).

thirdly, probably.

Second that Wayne.

Mr Gills fan if you slag me off as a Fleet fan I can simply take off my Gravesend shirt only to put on my Chelsea shirt then what will you say for yourself? Not that I'd ever abandon Gravesend they are now my team but if you want to go round spouting rubbish about the end of the rainbow being in Gillingham I can assure you it isn't.

Go on, go on. Changing alliegences don't make me laugh, what do you think your doing by "Groundhopping" until you find a place that suits you. Supporting your team has nothing to do with coming first, second or last it's about supporting your team. YOUR TEAM.

And another thing you feel so elated about being higher than us in the league well last season every self respecting football fan knows how Carlisle nearly scraped out of the relegation battle last season. If they succeed they still wouldn't be playing teams of your greatness, if they fail, doomed they'll be playing us.

So then that makes you out to be so much better than them. Why then Mr Scally but licker did they sometimes get higher attendances then you? Face it mate your team is going nowhere people are jumping off you bandwagon and on to those of clubs like ours. If your proposed stadium move fails what will you do then?

No no mate admit it you may not be playing in the same league as us at the moment but within time you will, whether we go up our not.

So you don't claim the neutrals for your fixtures against Canvey Island, Notts County and Villa?

Fact is 54,000 were in the Gillingham section. Potentially we could pull 20,000, same as you could probably pull 4,000 if the circumstances were right.

Eh? I'm confused now...you support Fleet and Chelsea? Anyone else? Barcelona perhaps? or Real Madrid? how about Juventus? How many teams do you want eh?

Shows what a two-bob mickey mouse outfit you are that you feel the need to have a second club. Your best bet is keeping quiet in future.

Just you pipe down and look forward to the day that Gills shirts outnumber your own 5-1 in your own town centre.

And I thought that Dreamland was in Margate not in Gillingham. Our local council wants to put itself on the map quickly, your chariman wants a bigger club with greater catchment area. The Gillingham name would be changed very quickly, and would only exist if you do a AFC Gillingham in the Wimbledon mold.

I think that both clubs are ambitious, however Scally has realised that the Gills have reached their peak in Medway and the only way is down as Charlton continue to nick supporters from all over Kent. whereas the Gravesham population will continue to rise, and thus this is why he is trying to come here. Gravesend and Northfleet and a new Ebbsleet Gills FC or whatever they would initially be called could survive in the same borough. But one would eventually die. And I would not like to lay odds on which one it would be. There is no certainty that it would be GNFC.

You'd get 20,000 for a big gate? You only managed 10,419 when you played Chelsea at home in the cup. Me not being a good mathmatician I would say that's just over half what your predicting.

Can we just ignore this bloke? He's clearly delusional expecting 20,000 people to ever again watch a team destined for League Two before very long, especially when Scally pulls out as promised. And he's in a minority as most of his fellow fans don't want to come to Gravesend, so here is the only place he can spout his nonsense.

Of course Gillingham will change their name, like MK Dons and Manchester United, they will take the name of the new place they call home.

Why on earth would Charlton fans bother to wind you lot up they have plenty of equals to banter with, West Ham I could understand but not Charlton.

Gillingham will lose most of their players when they get relegated, which is good because they can't afford to pay their wages on this seasons gates they will have no chance in a lower league. Gillingham have overeached themselves trying to compete with clubs that are too big for them and like many other clubs before that made the same mistake it will get a lot worse before it gets better.

You call it ambition others call it suicide.

I don't think that either would die. Even if both of us were in the Kent League then there will always be a Gillingham or a GNFC.

A town like Gravesend could support two teams.
