Staines 3 BTFC 1

Poor effort, one shot on target all afternoon (which was the goal with five minutes to go).

For some reason we did not want to pass the ball today so we just punted it forward and Staines strong defence lapped it up. Pat was the only player who had anything like a decent game.

Gothard's injury looked bad, presumably he would have been sent off if he had not been carried off?

That is the fourth away league game on the trot that we have played poorly (excluding last 15 mins at Kingstonian). We need to buck our ideas up on our travels, why do we do this? it cant be because of the intimidating crowds at away grounds we usually have more support.

Could not take anything positive out of this game. Perhaps as punishment the first team should play on Tuesday and see if they can keep the ball on the ground, as it is this that has brought us towards the top of the table in the first place.

Weve now lost 7 games this season (6 of them away from home). Thats not really good enough for a team meant to be chasing the title. If we are to go up its looking like itll have to be through the play offs, and for that to happen its looking as if we'll need that 2nd place for home advantage.

Still, were only 2 points from second place with games in hand on Eastleigh and Braintree. Cant help feeling like today was an opportunity missed though

I think you guys are having a larf on yourselves. The gate given at Staines today was 259 their average is 318 (from the official Ryman site). And Gazza b4 you suggest I'm spreading poison about 'Ricay' this is fact. What I would like to know is, if ricay supporters outnumbered the home support, were there really only 130 home and neutrals? If so why don't the locals at these places want to see Ricay? You were second in the table. So once again nothing adds up. You lot are in cloud cuckoo land. At least its riveting stuff that brings us back again and again.

Cardiff you seem a fair minded person, whats unreasonable with the post? Say compared to ones describing my team Braintree as 'braindead', 'boretree' or 'in-breds'? Its noticeable some of your mates loved to put it about when they win, but when things go against you and someone has the temerity to hit back, you guys go ape. a bit one-sided huh! What goes around comes around. If you don't like it, tell yer mates to tone things down when they post about other clubs. To suggest in-breeding has occurred is about as insulting as it gets. When I suggested in a post that ricay supporters were retards, it was deleted by Gazza immediately. I'm not sad just exposing things for what they are.

Billericay are a fair club with good support, it is possible in football to lose (for every winner there's a loser) because the opposition may at times be better, there are two sides on the pitch, but sadly many of the contributors to this forum are one-eyed and obviously only watch one team.

Anyway all the best in the play-offs, if you prove to be the best side in these most of us at Braintree ( I hope) will accept that, however hard it can be, its called sporting behaviour.

A miserable effort from us and we can have no complaints about going home pointless which was how most of us felt the journey to have been given the team's performance.

I felt that our recent good form had been based around strong efforts from Leon Hunter and Matt Game. If anyone knows why Steve Forbes was preferred to Matt Game today could they please explain it to me 'cos one plays his heart out for the team and one doesn't yet it seems to make no odds. Additionally we had two young strikers to pick from. One has scored a few goals, one hasnt? We gave away three [censored] goals and offered nothing going forward except a hopeful hump up the field.

I hope Gothard is OK but I'm sure there was a time when goalies tried to save the ball with their hands not their feet.

Rant over

I can only assume they wanted somebody a bit bigger to counteract the threat from the big lumps in the Staines midfield. Didn't work though, partly because Forbes was playing too close to Leon. They were practically running into each other in the first half. Similarly Cuz and Ross were too close first half, when generally we were far too narrow.

Beaten fair and square at Staines - no complaints on either of their pens and I didn't even think their first goal was too soft, being a well drilled shot. Hard to know what went wrong on Saturday, maybe the strong wind combined with a surprisingly firm dry pitch threw us off scent a bit, but it just didnt happen for us, whether it was wrong tactics or a poor team selection. As at Folkestone, I don't think you can fault the lads in the effort and commitment department, maybe one or two were slightly below par, and I am afraid it was just another "bad day at the office" as Simon says, best forgotten.

And re Ozbrit's comments on our travelling support, yesterday was typical. No, we probably didnt take over half of a 259 crowd, but the difference is that when the home team ran out, deafening silence, when Ricay appear, full on applause. WE get behind the team very vocally, be it by singing or encouragement, home side - next to nothing. And it's like this at our away games week in, week out.Ok, like nearly all teams' fans, once the game goes against you, you quieten down, but almost everywhere we go we make it FEEL like we outnumber the hosts, even if the maths says no. And what do the players do - count the blue and white shirts and hats or hear the noise ?

Yup and you have full time pros and noisy fans (amplified no doubt, by standing close to each other). Yet you've dropped 26 points against Irons 19 from the same number of away games. Yeading and Leyton with no away support have dropped 11 and 12 points respectively. What does that all say? It suggests to me that bawling ya head off doesn't appear to make much difference. Thats being fair coz the facts show it might actually be detrimental. Hehe yeah i'm playing the devils advocate here, but the point I'm making is - don't get carried away with this noise stuff as its clearly something that excites those producing it (no doubt generated by bucketfulls of Somerfield prem lager) but clearly has little effect on those on the pitch. It is a novel thing to hear at this level of any sport I have to say.

I believe you can't beat quality players, good coaching technique, game preparation, players prepared to sweat blood for their side when it comes to the getting of results.

I have to agree this is a fun forum compared to our own ones, plenty of ruses and bull to sink ones teeth into.

Cheers from down-under

So that would mean, we play better at home.

The fact of the matter is, we're still 2 points behind you, with one game in hand and we have the lions share of home games in our run up to the end of the season....Hmmmmmm...with our home record, what do ya think? Hey?

As for the support...Well, we take the most support away from home, bar say, Dover. It shows this club is alive and well...And is something the club and the supporters are proud of. As for Somerfield Prem Larger...hey, don't judge us by your own standards and the standrds of your adopted country. Stella, Guinness or in my case, diet coke.

So, you don't actually support Braintree then? The only reason you come on here is not to encourage your team but to wind us up? Well, I suppose that is proof that you are a sad person and this country and your designated club of support (sorry, interest) is better off with you over there. If all you can do is bitch, snipe and moan about us one has to wonder why?

Oh...the best form of flattery is envey...After your tirade of posts, I think we at New Lodge feel very flattered.

Have a nice day...
