Waltham Abbey's deducted point.

Recommended Posts

Can someone from the Abbey or the ESL answer me these questions please.

1. Have Waltham Abbey been deducted a league point?

2. If so, do Abbey intend to appeal, and when will the appeal be heard ?

3.If Abbey have been deducted a league point (appeal pending), why is this not shown in the current league table ?

I do not fulfil either criterion but can give you the answers as I believe them to be.

i) if the officially-commissioned league table doesn't show it, then presumably Abbey have not been deducted a point. Yet. If it's any help, the league table on mitoo showed the result of the Brentwood v Romford game to have been expunged about three weeks before the table in Centre Spot, so you probably know where to look first.

ii) presumably Abbey are in the process of an appeal which, if it is dealt with by the league, probably won't be until the next management committee meeting which I believe is in March. If it is going to the county then it probably won't be heard until next season, they rate they go.

iii) Any points deduction should not be applied to the league table until the appeals process has been exhausted, so either the case has been dropped or the appeal is still ongoing, in which case it would look pretty daft if they took the point away then restored it.

The reason i ask this,is because there is a chance (come the end of the season) that that 'point' could be the difference between whether Abbey win the league or someone else does.Teams could go into the final game, not knowing how many points they need in order to win the league(or come second or third..etc,including Abbey). The league title could well be decided by a committee AFTER the season has ended,if things finish tight at the top.

We need 'dates' and clarification by ther league chairman, please.

Those that sit on this leagues power decision making team, with respect are antiquated and behind the times. The rules are there in black and white, but are interpretated in so many different ways that grey area's, form inconsistent conclusions.

Basically there is no point asking for a result here. It is dependant on a couple of old blokes laughing at our expense on the day.

Sent off in the ESL...............35 Days.

Those paid in higher leagues sent off......3 Games???????????????????????????????????

We've had skateboards, BMX's and now have computers. Comeon ESL officials catch up.

The management committee includes four representatives from the clubs, and they follow standard sets of rules largely laid down by the F A, particularly in the appeals process.

I agree that the handling of the Waltham Abbey thing seems odd but they have made it clear why they have ordered our game to be replayed but not theirs, even though the problem was the same - they might win a game they had only drawn originally, whereas we would have to win by five goals to be better off than we were before. I agree that Abbey should be allowed to replay regardless of the result, even if only because we've been allowed to replay ours. I don't see that any appeal is going to achieve anything but it has to be carried out under the correct process.

As for the 35-day vs three games thing, that has been done to death, we know it is inequitable but it is because the F A has always left that aspect of the game at this level to the counties, who deal mostly with football below Senior level. This has been realised and is being rectified as part of the new restructuring and, as far as I am aware, will take effect from next season. Sod's Law will dictate that we'll have a player sent off near the end of this season and the suspension will be imposed before the handover, so he'll get 35 days next season after the change takes effect.

Sorry if any of the above sounds bitter, negative etc.
