Final league tables season 1931-32

We are obviously going back a fair way here chaps but as I remember it, Town used to play on a piece of land where the "new" Quilters Infant School was built, in between the old Archer Hall (which was knocked down to build the Emmanuel Church in the same spot around ten years ago) and Sun Corner itself, where the circus and fairs site themselves. Cannot remember exact details, but Ozbrit could well right about players changing in the Archer Hall the other side of the row of trees, though I'm fairly sure there was a hut nearer the pitch. Also the Infants School was built "half-on,half-off" the old pitch if you ever visit to get your bearings Per-Helge! I was around 8 years old when we moved to New Lodge, but clearly remember watching games at Laindon Road (as we used to refer to it) with my dad in the 60's, so please make allowances!

The hut you are referring to is probably the building which now houses our "buffet bar", because I read in a book about non-league grounds a couple of years ago that when the club moved to New Lodge in 1971, they took with them that building, which was used as changing rooms at Archer Hall/Laindon Road. They may have used it as changing rooms at New Lodge too, I don't know if the clubhouse was built in 1971 when we moved there or later?

It might possibly have been used as changing rooms for the first season, and was definitely used as such by the Reserves for a couple of years after the dressing rooms were opened as they often played on the "bottom pitch" simultaneously whilst the first team played on the "main pitch". I recall getting smacked on the back of the head by a stray ball from a reserve game once whilst watching the first team inbetween the two pitches!!!
