CDs I Plumped For, then...

Just bought three CDs for £20...

 

Moody Blues - In Search Of The Lost Chord - as previously discussed (in no great length) on another thread.

 

 

 

The Hollies - Butterfly - not heard of this album. It was released at their peak but contains no singles, and is supposedly an unknown psychedelic masterpiece. I'll be the judge of that.

 

 

 

Pretty Things - S.F.Sorrow - came recommended as the best of British Psychedelia. Again, I'll decide whether that's the case or not.

 

 

Will return with my findings next week.

Saw the Ptetty Things at the Edmonton(?) Sundowner in the seventies. There was me, my mate and about five other punters. Dunno about the other five but we were there to see the support band. Best part of the night was the fact that it was easy to get to the bar where both the bands were drinking ! From what I remember the Pretty Things were rubbish but then the atmosphere was hardly inspiring.

 

Previous gig at the Sundowner featured Focus and that night I think we went without a pint cos it was so crowded. The light show that night was the best(withoutlaser) i've ever seen

 

BJH I would describe as a poor man's Moody Blues - okay but do go on a bit.

Hmmm, you may be right, CS. An aqcuired taste. The singer thinks he's John Lennon and the guitarist thinks he's Hendrix. They're both wrong!

 

The bonus track Defecting Grey (a 1967 single) is quality, though!!

I prefer to judge a CD on what they sound like - not on how they look.
