Well, that one-day series would have been a complete waste of time, but thank God the rules allowed 12 South Africans to play - and they let us have their best one.

 

Kevin Pietersen HAS to be in the next Test team. There are those who'll tell you that one-day cricket is a very different game to Test cricket, but against Bangladesh that simply isn't true.

 

And yes, he's clearly an arrogant bleeder, and yes, the hair is really rubbish (what happened to sensible hair?!) and yes he's not English, but when he hits it, it goes faster than s**t off a shovel so get him in there.

 

Man of a thousand pies, Mr Key, the hapless Butcher - who seems very unlikely to find that hap again - even the promising Bell...well, they'll have to stand aside for King Kev.

 

And with him and Freddie in the middle, just think how many Mercs and Daimlers in the Lord's car park are going to get trashed this summer. Lovely.

Pietersen has demolished Middlesex twice in four day games (165 no & 65 no at Lord's in 2001 and 254 no at Trent Bridge in 2002). The performances at Lord's were awesome and those who were at Trent Bridge tell me that was even better. I think it's safe to say that he's not bad at the longer game either.

thats about as much exposure to the aussies and all the boks in our team that i can handle... im also thinking of watching the first over only at lords then hitting the bar
