Did they find their wheat?

So did Geoff sort the wheat from the Chaff?

If this was his aim, could he really expect to learn much from playing against a team of teenagers? Of the fourteen players we fielded 10 we either 16-17or 18.

Surely it would have been a better test to play our first team, but we were never asked.

Perhaps Canvey thought we were trying to bluff them when we stated our team would be mainly youth…or they saw an opportunity to show their superiority over us thinking all that mattered was the final score. I don’t know.

But from my perspective, I was disappointed not to see a more competitive game, and felt a little sorry for our youngsters for being put in front of a conference side, when we (Billericay) thought it would be a more realistic test.

It’s not sour grapes, the score reflected the game, it could easily have been more, and the Canvey players showed their class, it wasn’t a game we expected to win anyway. I’m just disappointed at the event as a spectacle, and curious as to why Canvey started with that team.

Hmm that comment sounds familiar.
