Quick question(s)

As i have said in many other threads, Clubs were given 3 years to get grounds to Conf North / South standards so as far as the ground goes then yes you should be fine.

The only stumbling block may be the length of the agreement keeping you at Stag Meadow.

At the start of the season all of the Ryman Premier clubs (and presumably those in Southern & Unibond premier) were told by the bods at the conference to pay some sort of administration charge so as to apply for the Conference South. I think the figure was something like £500 + VAT but can't recall the precise amount, any more than I can remember the name they gave to this charge. Anyway, payment had to be made in the first few days of the season and anybody who did not would not be considered for promotion to the Conference South. I know that the club paid this fee so that is one hurdle passed - it is unclear at this time if any clubs did not pay this tariff but I imagine there were a few who did not.

As far as what happens in terms of groundsharing, I get a little confused. I think it is tolerated so long as there are clear plans in place to find a permanent home. I know that when things were looking dreadful for Margate (and they still look pretty bad) there was talk of their expulsion from the Connie South when it appeared all hope for a new ground was lost. So from the groundsharing perspective I think we would be alright.

Stag Meadow however may be a problem. I'm not saying it is as I'm unclear on ground gradings, particularly as they keep changing and may well do again in the future. In the event that we were to reach the playoffs and have success there then the club may have to look to terminating our arrangement with Windsor and come to a new deal with a nearby club whose ground would meet the criteria. Whether that is possible or not I don't know. When we moved in with Windsor we were told it was for three years but that could be flexible depending on the terms agreed between Deaner and Windsor.

So then, having tried to answer your questions I think I've been very vague as I don't have concrete answers! At the moment though I would have to say the play-offs look a long way off.

I think you cannot enter a groundshare agreement in order to gain promotion. If you're in an existing one you're ok, as long as the ground meets the requirements, or if you're returning to your own ground the summer before you start playing in the new league.

Should the unthinkable happen and we were to go up, I would imagine we would have to work with Windsor to provide Stag Meadow with any improvements it may need.

As I keep saying, you can use a Premier ground for three years so Stag Meadow will be fine until the end of the 2006/7 season.

As far as the ground share goes it was a three year deal, that is the minimum you can set unless it is for special circumstances like when Staines were building their ground.

From the explinations I have been given from the various members from each club, both official and un-official, should Slough terminate the agreement they will have to still pay the season rent for all seasons missed as well as a compensation fee per game missed.

Again, I stress thatthis has come from many different sources from both clubs and has been the same from each of them BUT that doesn't make it true.

Out of interest does the Conny South require the landlord and tennancy act that we can't get at Wexham Park, cos if we did somehow go up and they don't require it, would moving back to WP be a possibility?

you really have no idea about the financial black hole that running this club is do you? Martyn Deaner has lost anywhere between £600k and £1m keeping this club afloat. Unless we can buy the freehold to Wexham Park so we could actually, you know, make money from the bar and food and such we'd need anywhere between £3m and £10m. Also half of Wexham Park is in South Bucks which, judging by how long it's taken Burnham to start work on their new stand, means we'd have to wait at least five years (after getting the ground of course) to get it up to even Conference South standard.

Or should we just try and find another way to get a ground?

unfortunately for us slough is not a place with a lot of free space! we just have to keep looking and hope the groundshare with windsor holds out. also a lot of league clubs dont have 3-10m pounds, so i doubt that we are going to be able to find it, despite what the STST can do.
