Or go to 4-4-2 with Smurf 1 operating as left back with Glen Harris given the role as left wing. He's played there for us before and been effective and tends to drift out onto the wings when playing a more central role. This would also allow for Spencer to play on the right of midfield where is usually at his most effective

Very disappointed to hear the news that Alex has left like all supporters just wished he could of stayed and helped us till the end of season with some high profile games still to come.

He is a classy player who will be greatly missed so wish him the best with his career in the future.

Just hope this is not the start of more players leaving which would be a huge blow to a great club of SLOUGH TOWN'S standing and of the superb season we have had so far.

You can't really begrudge him the move as he must be on good money there, and all credit to him for hanging around for as long as he did to make his decision. Clearly showed that he holds the current management of the club with such high regard, something which will benefit us greatly in the future when trying to attract players of a similar calibre.

Gutted to see the Mighty Mullet go but completely understand and respect his decision. Best wishes to Alex - remember your 80,000 friends at Slough come cup final day.

With injuries and recent departures I am concerned that the squad is begining to look a little thin. May well be needing to see Mason and Lovegrove step up to first team action. I certainly don't think we should be considering a permanent switch for Hodgey.

Ah well, money talked in the end. I shall be interested to see how often he actually gets a game for them. I wish him all the best for his career, but I think he's followed the buck and could end up in a Boot situation, and not play as much as he would have done here. I think there will be some noses out of joint, looking at their fans site.

But what are we going to do as we watch the guts being ripped out of the team? Haddow gone, Steer out, Moller and Gyoury gone, Hakki not back on form, Mets suspended, untried yougsters the only resource - relegation dog fight looms. No ground, no news of next season being settled.

Bl**dy depressing!

And with Danny Steer with a broken foot, only other option is really moving Murph 1 to left-wing back and dropping Hodgey back to Centre-bck unless Eddie signs someone fast?

Of course Hodgey is suspended for the Heybridge match so he won't be going in defence on Saturday

Wow.

Head up there boys. I am sad he has gone as he was my favorite player. But it is not the first time my fave has left and it won't be the last.

If Alex has gone for £750 a week then I am amazed he took so long to decide. That is over £35K a year, that is full time money.

Alex looked a good player in our team. So do a couple of others. That may not translate into another setting. I think Slough are massively over-acheiving this season and last, given the constraints we face.

We have a TEAM that is bigger than the 11 players on the pitch. It includes the fans the management and the playing staff. Remember what it used to be like a couple of seasons ago. Here is a question for you to ponder. What would you choose. Be where we are now with all that has been acheived in the last season and a half. Or back at Wexham Park playing in a division lower (or more) with Steve Browne and his 'Guns for Hire' squad. Tough call that one.

Still think Alex may regret it long-term and would not be surprised to see him back at some stage but in the mean time, life ( and STFC) goes on.

thats the right attitude! of course we're all going to feel the loss by haddow leaving but i seem to remember the huge outcry when whincup left us, the anger at having a new keeper thrown in at an FA Cup game...and that turned out alright didn't it?!

have some faith guys!
