good news

Hold on! Hold on! We aint there just yet. Our developer/financer has "in principle" agreed to build the ground back to a conference south level and Yes that is fantastic news. That will be despite what the councils decision is on Thursday. That decision is still in the balance as far as they are concerned as regards to the commercial aspect, so things are not as clear as you are told. I have blamed the council for all this and that still stands. They are even at this time in proceedings trying to play for time. Will be intersting to see what they have to say on Thursday.

If my tactics were to make the council sit up and think about things more clearly and to get to their conciences were correct then the work put in by EVERY margate fan has been worthwhile but it must be stressed that todays news is an act of faith in our plans by a funder who can clearly see the fruits of this venture coming to fruition whereas the council can't.

Until the bulldozers start to make their play it is not a done deal..yet!

But todays news is a major lift for all involved in the club.

AS for getting permission to build. Well that has always been there so todays news has no ties to that today apart from the previous permission allowing the funder to start work when it is deamed fit. That needs to begin within a couple of weeks so as to meet deadlines set by the conference.

The ground was pulled down to aquire football league standard. Stadia management, the developers at the time went bust. Thereafter the problems arose. All this is history now and all too often thrown at us but if we were to progress we had to be ready. There was nothing wrong whatsoever with the original plans and desires. Its about time people started to forget the past and put this to bed once and for all. The mistake was taking on a company that was recommended to us by the conference.

We have gone through heartbreak on many occasions and the funder/developer has in this case shown extreme patience and confidence in this latest venture and has today put his money where his mouth is and given us a ground back again. Wish the council could have done the same. We may have lost a league through it but it could have been much worse should the council have got their way.

The fight with the council is another matter from that which has unfolded today. The fight with them continues. Nothing has changed there. But their allowance of a lease and agreement in the past to allow a build should the finance be available is now going to be realised thanks to Mr. Lever.

An unselfish move on his behalf to a plan that should have been passed by a SELFISH council.

We still have to be wary but the ground will now be built at conference south standard with the hope of other matters concerning the other commercial buildings being sorted out further, but now gets us back home ready to play in the timescale required.

The council still need convincing on the commercial side, though i.m.o. nothing would or will satisfy them. Their time consuming and time wasting has now been scuppered and that their plan to strangle us into submission has now failed.

Its no thanks to the council that we have wasted 3 years and its thanks to a funder who is taking a chance that he will recoup his financial backing for the ground re-build via the commercial side that has to take great credit for the good news we have recieved today. I personally will still not rejoice fully until I see movement at the ground with the builders.

But today has given us all a massive lift.

It was interesting listening to the interview on Radio Kent this morning just before 8:00am. It seems that the Independent Surveyor has said that the club's submissions were not up to scratch, which rather nails the theory that this has all been the fault of the council.
