The football club pay for the required independant survey to be done within the two weeks deadline.(as set by the Thanet Council). Thanet Council state they will make a decision within a further two week period after they get the report. As we now go into a THIRD week and still no decision people have to ask why Thanet Council cannot stick to THEIR agreed timescale. Something to hide? A ploy to kill the club off by missing Football Conference deadlines? Just incompetence by Councillors and Officials? Most fans have views on the cause come election time I trust the people of Thanet do the same.

I think the chap from Canterbury Council is right. if TDC say NO the the club should consider moving in to the Canterbury City area. the land around the roundabout at the begining of the Thanet Way is earmarked for re-development. and I would rather go there than Ashford/Dover grounds. if he is right then Canterbury City council would benefit Margate FC would benefit and TDC would lose out.

TA from Margate. Casino is not in the plans. Im a local resident and have seen the plans! Hotel will be full with supporters and players of opposition and pfizer students. Pfizer support the hotel I believe. The hotel idea worked well at Westham and many lower clubs. As for the 5 a side pitches. Jackey bakers is fully booked all week. Youth teams like thanet colts of whom i have played for train indoors but would rather train outside. These pitches will benefit local sport and thire is a demand for them. We used to get 1500 at many home games and if we have better facilities im sure more people will come to watch. Thanet council say it wont be financially viable. Turner Contempary will never be financially viable. I suggest that you get your facts right! Up the gate!

Margate is full of "waste of money unsustainable blot on the landscape ideas" the main one having to be retrieved from the sea at this moment. PUBLIC money is being thrown away on art centres no one will visit (£31 million to build and £1/2 million a year to run)Unused town hall(£3/4 million to repair) and £24,000 on a council logo that does not photocopy (would printing be cheaper?) These costs are still going up and coming out of OUR pockets. How much will the football plans cost to complete local ratepayers and I DO NOT include the costs caused by the councillors and officials who don't seem to know exactly what they want from the club. Seem to change their ideas each time they change their socks!!

Do you really think Thanet Council would give any consideration to a covenant signed about 60 years ago. They would probably claim that as it was the old Margate Corporation that were involved they don't have to worry. Look how they have treated the people who used to live in Westwood or the residents in Ramsgate and Manston.

There is a covenant on the site which restricts its usage to a sports ground

ohh!! bodyorm , margate

as an avid margate fan am infuriated at the time we have had to wait, but the demonstration last night at TDC was a success and we have now been granted a further 14 days to move forward. The club have agreed to pay TDC legal cost while an independant surveyor will re look at the plans and final decision will be made one way or another in 28 days, I hope they see reason UP THE GATE

Mick what about the Turner Centre too. the council is being short sighted. if all these developments work where are all the tourist and visitors stay as its well documented that most of the hotels in cliftonville are being used by asylum seekers. MFC's proposal of a new hotel would have at least helped in this area. TDC look at the big picture and beyond the next local election. JP

Im deverstated that the council are just going to let the club dispand presuming they go ahead with pulling out of talks with the football club.Ezekiel, listen to the supporters or lose our votes. Dont let our football club die. We dont want a Kent league side. We want conference football in our town.

For the record, List of achievments by TDC = none. List of cockups by TDC: Traffic Lights at the clock tower, Arlington House. Sandwich relief road. MFC's re-development. thanet road infrastructure(Lack Off).Fast Speed rail link in to Kings Cross (which was promised by TDC)and the biggest being built now Westwood Cross (the roads cannot take the amount of traffic as it is how much more traffic is the opening of this white elephant going to create). We voted these councillors in over the years, its time we voted them out. Martin Porter Of Maidstone. I reacon you'd be most welcome at the demonstration and the more there the better. This council's got alot to answer for and its not just the football club thats an issue. Its the state of the whole place! The football ground and dreamland are probably both the most derelict sites on the isle of thanet and it sadens me to see the state of the place after living here my whole life.I cant be at the demonstration due to work commitments but give ezeciel an earfull from me and make him take notice.

Martin Porter, Maidstone

Firstly, whilst I have no real interest in football, I do believe that preserving a football club facility would be an asset to the town, indeed any town. Maidstone has ironically lost its former club grounds. For information I am an active member of the Save Dreamland Campaign, and as such would be pleased to know if any Campaign members would be welcome to support your fight. I trust that both parties have a mutual interest in trying to incite Thanet District Council into making appropriate decisions for Margate's future well being. I strongly believe that Margate, especially needs established facilties, like Dreamland and MFC to support its future long-term survival. I think it would be very short-sighted, and naive, to just imagine that the town can survive with a new Arts Centre as its main icon for the 21st century. Margate is a tourist "leisure coast" town after all and has some very unique world-renowned attractions, like the Shell Grotto and Grade II listed Scenic Railway. If it is helpful to your cause I'd gladly attend the January 13 meeting and try to get some other Save Dreamland supporters to join me. As has been previously said, I believe that together we can be strong. After all, WE are the voters. Please let me know if I can be of any support here.

All the above should lift our spirits though I guess ONLY the council can now do that! Lets just hope they read these posts...I know some of them do! And a big "NO" to the canterbury thought! Though am in favour of the council losing out in whatever way they deserve through their short-sightedness.
