Hi Chaps. I will be making the journey to your place in March for our league match. I am staying over in Gravesend after the match for just the one night. Does anything happen on a Tuesday night?

Decent pubs in the town centre etc? Anywhere to avoide?

Any help much appreciated.

You're in luck. On a tuesday night, the local chavs make a religious sacrifice by burning an item of burberry in a stolen motor.

Tuesday night? Tuesday night? Lets see, oh theres the ceremonial chav phone box smashathon or Bottle Breaking Olympics, not the mention the Chav-mobile racing. But seeing as you from up north and our lot aren't the most culturel bunch you could take part in a local kick the foreigner (to that lot your would be foreign, as would anyone north of St Albans. Not that they where St Albans is of course)

Sorry to be sarcastic mate but the Chavs in this town do my head in. Enjoy your stay but not the result.

Try the Windmill or Jolly Drayman just outside the town centre. No trouble in either of those two, and get a taxi back to the hotel, slipping the driver five quid extra if he can wing or preferably cripple a couple of lowlife chavs on the way home.

Thanks for your help. Doesnt sound a too friendly place come night, but sadly the same can be said about most places. The hotel bar probably sounds the safest place to be (for a lock in too hopefully).

The Jolly Drayman, recommended by Stu M also does accommodation as well as excellent beer & decent food.

1st pub I ever drank in, over 3 decades ago. Never encountered the merest hint of trouble there. To get to the game, just walk the 3 minutes or so to Gravesend station & get a stopping train towards London. Northfleet is 1st stop. Walk straight ahead then left downhill after leaving the station - a few minutes only. I wouldn't really recommend going back by train. Lowlifes love small railway stations with dodgy underpasses & slow, deserted trains. Cab back after the match, door to door, will set you back about a fiver.

Jolly Drayman
