From Mark's comments in the Recorder last Friday, it suggest's that their has been some previous between the two of them. Mark suggested that Chandler likes to win his games "off the pitch".

 

Not taking sides on this one, but it could explain that their is an undercurrent between the two benches that we are not party to.

There's no way someone will score a goal to win a game if he is off the pitch with the ball!

So, if a with the scores level after 90 minutes playing time a penalty is awarded, the kicker, who happends to be a powerfully built and extremely athletic young man, takes the penalty kick but his momentum carries him past the ball whie it is in flight and over the goal line, before the whole of ball passes over the goal line between the goalposts and beneath the crossbar in accordance with the laws of the game, would he have scored the winning goal while not on the field of play?

 

It doesn't really have to a penalty of course, provided no other goals were scored afterwards, but I just thought that added a bit of drama. I mean, a player, say for example Pedra Mendes, could shoot from anywhere and stagger over the sideline while the ball is in flight. This would depend on the officials actualy awarding the goal of course.

 

I just wondered.
