2005 - A Ongoing review

Well I decided to carry on the whole diary theme and this is January.

 

Pay particular attention to the amount of people I drunk a pint with bit as I know it was the subject of some ridicule, bordering on bullying, I almost quit the board again with a heavy heart. And the list is available.

 

Out and About

 

There were 31 days/nights in the month – I did 7 Nightshifts meaning a potential 24 days to go out. I went out 17 times, so I spent 7 nights in.

Out of these 17 Nights out – 5 of them involves staying out after the last train of these 2 were all-nighters.

 

I managed to keep a pretty good track of all the bars and pubs I went in (not including football clubhouses/nightclubs and gig venues) and according to my diary I drunk in 23 different licensed venues.

 

I was pretty good at mentioning people that I’ve drunk with on a certain night and managed to mention 78 different people that I’ve shared a pint with.

 

I've Pulled 2 girls with 1 of them getting the whole Thorns Treatment.

 

I'm yet to leave the country

 

I've drunk in the following places at least once:

Highbury, London

Kennington, London

Kentish Town, London

Newport

West Hampstead, London

 

I visited the following nighclubs:

Roxy (nee The Office)

The Fridge

The Metro

Underworld

 

I've seen the following bands:

Art Brut

Mandio Diop

Pop Will Eat Itself

Re-Order

Special Needs

The Chalets

The Others

The Rocks

The Smyths

 

As previously mentioned I worked 7 Nightshifts I also worked 8 Day shifts, meaning I worked 15 days and had 16 days off – Not bad. Of these 15 days I was in charge of the train service 3 times. I went to BPM TV Twice.

 

I watched the following football matches:

City v Cambridge 1-0

Spurs v Brighton 2-1

City v Havent 0-1

City v Maidenhead 1-2

Newport v City 1-0

Well, there were the seven blokes at the bar in the club who said hello when we came in, two more playing pool and the barman.

 

That's ten.

 

Then at Spurs, the young couple on the same table as us, the guy who came over to ask to borrow a pen and the barman.

 

That's four.

 

Plus each other.

 

So I shared a pint with eleven people on Saturday.

 

Add to that Emma, her mum and sister in the evening when we settled down to a couple of bottle of wine.

 

Makes fourteen.

 

Oh. And Dylan was there too.

 

And our cat.

 

Sixteen.

You have shared a pint over a period of time with Art Brut mate, as it was with you when we spent it with Ian and Freddie after midnight on NYE. Obviously me and Eddie chat all the time these days and have been known to swap texts.

The Horn Reborn.

 

Well done on their sell-out tour of local pubs!!

Some fairly big venues (eg Barfly) some smaller ones (like The Horn) and if you managed to keep up with modern music you'd know that The Horn has finally become a venue that up and coming bands now go to on the circuit and isn't exculsivly for tribute acts and unsigned battle of the bands.

Excellent. So they could be even bigger than Perfume, then!!

 

I'm sure Global superstardom awaits for the Carter USM tribute band fronted by an ex-Social Worker!

 

In the meantime, I'll stick to my Simon & Garfunkel and Lindisfarne CDs!!
