BTFC XI 6-0 Southend Manor

A team including Joe Baker, Steve Dickinson, Gary Henty, Juho Rantala and Nicky Savidge as well as some reserve players (including Danny Gilley and Ben Cocklin from last year) won 6-0 last night. Carl Fannon opened the scoring in the first half, before the floodgates opened after the break with Gilley (2) another Fannon goal, and Ranatala and Dicko all scoring. Good to see Rantala coming through his 2nd 90mins in three days, will be interesting to see who starts against Harrow on saturday.

yes a facile win for the town xi...1 st team squad members rantala,savidge,dickinson and particularly gary henty all having solid games altho the player who caught my eye the most was carl fannon who in addition to his two well taken goals looked to have a good engine and the priceless knack of timing his runs to perfection. think he might be even more effective in a central midfield role (played right half) and a chance we could see him in first team action this year. danny gilley who played a couple of times for the first team last year missed a hatful of chances in the first half before changing into his scoring boots at half time. the most disappointing feature of the evening apart from another incredibly low attendance was the abject performance of joe baker who apart from a couple of classy touches here and there looked completely disinterested.

yes, good performance. Reserves will do well this season.

I think Joe's disinterest stems from the caning he got on Saturday from the bench after an incident with Lee Williams. He was told "if you don't like it you can .... off". Unfortunately I think he may well do so.

 

However - good to see we have a solid squad for the forthcoming season. Come on you blues!!

Please Mister T. Tell us more. What incident? We all want to know what happened? Joe Baker is a good player - cant afford to lose him.

the incident mister t is refering to happened during the second half of the game agst enfield town not long after their left back scored their goal by ghosting past a static j.b at the back stick..after another indifferent attempt at a tackle in the middle of the park GC was heard to shout the afore mentioned at joe. shortly after that joe did nearly take the opposition keepers head off with a shot from abt 10 yards. personally i think joe has been playing pretty poorly for 6 months or so now and needs to get his act together although i believe internal matters should be sorted internally and not on the pitch!!!

I think Joe has been playing much better in the pre-seasons. To me he looked to be sharper and have more pace than during the last season.

It does of course help if he is played in the correct position.
