I hear from his Dad that Jake fell on slippery steps yesterday evening and suffered a fractured skull. He had a four hour operation at Leeds Infirmary late last night to remove what I believe to be a clot on or near his brain. It's too early for any more details.

His Mum and Dad are at the hospital and, hopefully, there will be further news later today. I, or someone else, may hear from Clive again later.

Good luck to t'lad from me.

Some promising news!

Jake has just been moved out of 'intensive care' and is now on the neurological ward. The Consultant is pleased with progress today. The scar is quite impressive apparently.

Through the worst by the sound of it.

Clive has just phoned and he has asked me to put a brief message on here.

The operation to remove the blood clot was a success. Jake is still suffering double vision in one eye and hasn't yet regained full use of one arm. It's hoped that both will improve over time. He is also pretty whoosy which, notwithstanding that he is a footballer, is probably a result of the operation rather than a return to normality.

If all continues to go well, Jake may return home within a week or so before a spell as an out-patient in Cambridge.

Clive asked me to thank, on his behalf, all Saintsfans who have phoned with good wishes. He will be in touch himself in due course.

Once again, good luck to t'lad from me.
