having read all the posts on ours, Enfields and ESL forums it all reads like a game of handbags on and off the pitch which in fact it was the normal banter between friends in footie and 2 teams wanting to win a game of footie.

I spoke to a number of Townie's and they enjoyed themselves, as did everyone else I caught up with.

Okay it wasnt the best game of footie I have seen, but a gutsie one in the artic conditions, but ok tactics were used but a drop of holy water was the blessing that did the damage, but would the player moaned if it was thrown on him if it was a heatwave out on the pitch, I think not.

The nature of the game is to support your team at all costs, but the enjoyment factor was def. visable and should be encouraged from rival fans.

Yes the bar should issue plastic glasses and barkingside should know better than to have them at pitchside but no nastiness shown from anyone.

I feel everyone came away thinking that for a £5 they had spent a great afternoon, tell me if I got that wrong.

Most importantly putting names to screen names was worth my fiver.

So perhaps everyone should look at the whole picture, a cup tie, loads of kids deciding they would come over to watch instead of having nothing to do and cause problems, our guests from Doddinghurst FC really enjoyed there day, carried on talking about how good it was even today after the call I got 10 minutes ago.

Plus some great music being played from our DJ BoroFan.

A message to Andy of Enfield, I hope the link gets sorted out for you regarding the Centre Spot

Lets lets look forward to Saturday next week and the fun will start all over again, hopefully.

Zody, I think it was rather more than throwing some water about that your bench used to engineer Rudi Hall's sending off yesterday. Do you condone their actions?

My guess is that if Town deploy such tactics next week (which we won't by the way) there would be all hell let loose on the forum afterwards.

At least you didn't kick everything that moved, like in the league game. But I fear that Romford have gone backwards this season. I wonder, too, whether you were perhaps not quite the victims that you ahve made yourselves out to be in recent games against Basildon & Southend?

point 1

Not being a coach I wouldnt know if throwing water over a player, is sufficent to wind him up,but my guess is he was wound up before the start, so in this case I cannot answer your question, from a coaching point, but my view is the player needs to grow up, as do the people that moan about it.what was so bad about it,he wasnt hurt, more like good old pride was hurt, so its okay for the banter on the forum and off the pitch but not okay on the pitch, all a bit sad.

STICKS AND STONES WILL BREAK MY BONES BUT NAMES

Perhaps our passion is different from yours, but lets be grown up about this, not one player can have that much control that a drop of water gives him the strops, OR IS HE A GOD, OR GOD.

From my point of view, only being the new kid on the block in the last few months I would disagree with your comments. Romford havent gone backwards, maybe other teams have called in the services of fitness trainers, we are developing our youth and reserves still, and our players are getting a bit older and perhaps feeling the pace, of the youngesters about in this league, plus the pound notes attract players.

Having the odds against you and no ground is one thing, not being able to hold on to players is another when the carrot of getting paid comes along but one thing is for sure, we are getting alot of things right now. watch this space

I would also disagree about the games between Basildon and Southend, having been there at both matches, the tactics used by these teams are more like a couple of pub teams looking for a ruck as they hadnt scored on the friday night.I was face to face with a prat of a supporter shouting in the face of one of our players, but the type to say go one hit me, then make a claim about it, I thought this so called supporter should be put back into nappies.

what that was all about lovely, I do the music for BoroFan, he wanted some footage from previous games that Distant had found in his loft, remixed with old Romford favourites, then I thought we needed an up todate Anthem, hence...... you were lucky, much as I love Pink Floyd this will be featured soon as well <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/djsmile.gif" alt="" />

Zody..How can you say that 'someone needs to grow up' for reacting to having water squirted at him ?

Doesn't the person who squirted the water 'need to grow up'.

What would happen in the premier league if someone from the Arsenal bench (during a game) walked up to side of the pitch and squirted water into the face of a Man Utd player.

I've no doubt Enfield Town will appeal the sending off.

What no one has mentioned is that the reason Rudi Hall left the left the field of play (to try to retrieve the ball initially) was because a Romford player kicked the ball away. The Romford coach was then obviously trying to get hold of the ball first,to stop Town taking a quick throw.Rudi Hall ran after the ball also (to try to get to the ball before Romfords coach got hold of it).

Can you get sent off for a tackle that wasn't on a opposing player OR whilst the ball was in play.??

Whatever,I thought the ref was very weak in dealing with the incident. As soon as words were exchanged between the bench and the players. The ref should have sent the Manager/coaching staff/subs, back to sit on the bench,or at least made them stand a couple of feet away from the touchline,to avoid any futher tention.

The ref didn't see anything wrong from 5 feet away but the linesman with the blacked out sunglasses( poncherello) ,standing 40 feet away seemed to get a better view of the incident.

LS - must agree with your query re the laws of the game.

The ball was out of play

The "coach" isn't on the field

so what was he sent off for?

Zody - totally disagree with your cr&p about sticks and stones, maybe you should visit http://www.nike.com/standupspeakup/index.jsp

south, please tell me then was it mental abuse or phyical abuse, he got, for god sake, whats football coming too.

I have reported child abuse in my job, twice, and I can tell you also your player was or should have not taken the law into his hands and kick out like he did, so its okay to make an issue about speaking out but keeping quiet about the actions taken to get there own back

This ain't going anywhere coz nobody will win the case. As Brunob says (not verbatum) that we are all myopic towards our own team. So let's put this one to bed, roll on next week and the water pistols, fill them with wine (chilled white or rose) and I will lay on the ground, you can tickle my belly and call me Susan!
