Oh dear,no Howard,no Daly,no Hale(Who I had assumed was a certainty since he had been shouted about since the end of last season). What I want to know is who will stop the goals, but more important who will score any?

Unfortunately this confirms my fears the crowds will reach an all time low as Slough as a decent football team will slip into the abyss. My PREDICTION IS THEY WILL BE UNDER 200 VERY SOON.such a waste of a chance to move forward with the proposed new stadium,so sad.

To steal from a quote from Martin Luther King-I have seen the other side of the mountain-and its looking grim.........

From what I understand, Howard & Daly are both expected to sign alongside Darron Wilkinson, but none of the trio were present on Saturday. I'll admit to missing them totally when the list was read out to me earlier!

As for Steve Hale, I'm not quite sure what the situation with this one is. I know the players are training this evening, so hopefully so of them will have signed this evening, although the keeper Adrian Blake is expected to sign this evening.

First of all let me just say that Howard, Wilko and CJ are all injured and are expected to miss the opener. There should be no problem with Howard, Wilko and Daly signing as well - they just have not been around lately to sign as they have been injured.

Steve Hale is also still expected to sign for the club.

And we can't have it both ways can we. OK some of the players we have signed on are raw side, but look what having so many ex pro's did last year and the year before - we got relegated and finished in mid table!!

The Budget has been cut which is sensible and now hopefully there will be no 'off the pitch' problems and a few of the youngsters can come through and shine in this division.

Why write us off before we get going?

Q Why write us off before we get going?

SADLY

A The last three seasons (and close seasons).

What has changed?

The way the club is run?

The managerial expertise?

How the fans feel?

What has improved?

At least we have a team. What about Ford last season, a bunch of players nobody had heard of, low budget good team spirit and virtually no crowds and they made it. Give the team a chance.

sadly i have to agree, its the most pathetic squad ever assembled in Slough's colours for possibly 30 years, that said sum people on here will accept any pathetic standards, as long as STFC shirt runs out on the pitch, Deaner is running a football club on such a ridiculous budget that he should take everyones advice and move on, he just cant afford to a run club of this size, the last 4 years have confirmed this and as for his son playing , that will only last until the money runs out..........Effing Pathetic the whole scenario...........pre-seasons against DIss, Brook House, Rugby, etc.........effing pathetic, no pride left? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/director.gif" alt="" />

Don't be so certain--perhaps our dynamic manager will mould together a squad of unknowns into a motivated cohesive team--with everyone knowing what they have to do, and surprise us all. It would certainly surprise me mind you.

According to the Non League Paper-Hornchurch have as centre forward the ex West Ham,Bournmouth and Bristol player Steve Jones,so my question is who do you see stopping him. Also talk about full circle we left little clubs like Hornchurch behind many many years ago.

We can't have it both ways. The budget has probably been cut so the club can continue at this level and as a result players have left the club. It's probably either that or no STFC!

OK, the squad is not as good as last year but the basis of the team is still there with Veli, Ant Howard and Paul Barrowcliff; who were our best three players last season.

Also I know not may have seen the pre-season games (mainly due to us only being at home once), but both Paul Reed and Tony Boot have the ability to do as well as the players listed above at this level.

OK, so were playing Hornchurch. It's not great on paper, but this is what league we are in and some people have to forget about the conference 'glory days' and the trophy semi final as we are no longer there.

Lets wait and see before we start judging and get behind the side.

(Cue anonymous comments slagging somebody off!)

I think you are being very derogatory to Hornchurch and the like. It is hardly their fault that they find themselves as a Div 1 club [though they deserved their promotion on their performance in last season when it mattered!]through no fault of their own when on the other hand, you find yourselves as a Div 1 club very much through your own making!

Also, they have a secured playing facility - how about you?

A secured training facility with the assistance of their local council - how about you?

A SUBSTANTIAL sponsorship from BRICO Windows - how about you?

I have nothing against Slough Town FC and agree they have been one of the big non-league players in the past, I sincerely hope you regain your lost position at some point in the future - just please accept your current status and respect the sides that now play at YOUR level!

Nothing derogatory intended to Hornchurch or anybody Mr. Scouter. If you knew the history, the prevailing circumstances and the years of struggle since being kicked out of the Conference (not relegated), perhaps you'd understand how we feel. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />

Cos the lack of funds are hampering our pre-season, (some say we should be grateful we have a pre-season), we r 2 days from the start, with the most poxyist squad ever assembled, 95% of our supporters r dissillusioned before the start, Steve Browne is still our coach ( Whoopee) Mr M Deaner is still running the show ( Whoopee) methinks anothe dose of prozac is on the cards <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/thefinger_red.gif" alt="" />

So then Rebel Yell, your answer is?

You don't exactly give an alternative though do you? Without the people who are still going along and watching, there wouldn't be a club left.

Fair play to those who are still going along and supporting their club through thick and thin, but even more respect to those who are actively working to get the club out of the hole it's in rather than pissing on it from the outisde and slagging it off at every opportunity. Instead of being sat there on your [****!!****], why don't you do something about it?

But no, you'll stay there in the shadows openly criticising everyone and everything that goes on. Gee thanks, that's a great help. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/upyours.gif" alt="" />

Well said, SFTC Admirer!

Let's look at what might need to be achieved to do what Rebel Yell thinks we need to do.

First we must find someone who is prepared to make an offer Mr Deaner cannot refuse.

Probably they will have to clear the debts of the club - no accounts have been filed since 1999, according to Companies House, so we have no real idea of the financial state of FRUS Ltd, despite the Liquidation order being lifted.

Then they will have to pay the wages of the current players, plus the coaching staff, plus the manager, plus the Admin staff plus ground, match and training expenses, plus buying the extra players needed to take us out of this league, plus Tax, NI, VAT, plus the cost of competing in the league and cup . I don't really know all the expenses of running a club but it cannot be much less, on any reasonable estimate, than finding someone who has around £300,000 to £500,000 they are prepared to LOSE in the current year. So to do the job even reasonably,a la Rushden and Diamonds, will require several million. And we have not even started to talk about the ground problem yet!

Am I far out, Chris Sliski - you probably have a better idea of the amount involved than I do?

So, whilst all those who support the club want better times, who of us has even a tenth of that that kind of money and that kind of expertise? How about it Rebel Yell? Fancy taking it on?

So, I think it is realistic of all those guys who work their butts off for the club to say "we don't like it but it is a better option if you love STFC than the alternative!"

Well said Rebel Yell to many people on here prepared to take second best, its not for rebel yell to come up with the solutions, its as plain as pimple on your nose, the club couldn't be run any worse then the present incumbents, look at the fans who have already voted with their feet? wot was the crowd today? wot will it be in two months time? when the money runs out and we are into our next crisis wot will the crowd be then, he is driving this club into the ground. The destiny of the club is in Dreamers hands, he has to sell and give a reasonable time to sell, he clearly, clearly hasn't got sufficient funds to run this football club or any previous clubs he has run, I bet my bottom dollar when he goes forth and multiplies and new people take control the crowds will come back and PRIDE will be restored, DONT ACCEPT SECOND BEST? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/let_it_all_out.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/let_it_all_out.gif" alt="" />
