Why do people resnt you and your club? Obviously Barkingside fc VENTED their feelings at the game. You as a club are well supported and have a history!

 

I have stated before, and not wishing to follow on the footsteps of Mean it mick ( for those who remember the wind ups), I suggest that respect is paramount and not the BIGTIME CHARLIE attitude of your PC users. Yes anorak I am, but realistic atittitude of my club and followers is:

 

1. I have a club to follow.

 

2.I don't like shopping on saturdays.

 

3. If I had the F...ing aloof , and, everyone else's fault's attitude as the Enfield T....wats that go on this site have, I would subribe to samaritans. You are so far up your own Back..es you may miss the fact you real and original club...... Enfield are equiping themselves OK.

I hope you leave the ESL, but like most I feel, Fu.. it, WE or most want you to fall flat on your faces.

Would love to duplicate CWC's ending, but hey, it does sum you up to a 'T'.

It is not important what other people think of our club.

 

Our players play football to win. And winning is a habit as is losing. Coming second is not acceptable. That was the spirit that made EFC one of the greatest non league sides in the country until it was fouled up by L********** who said at a meeting of the supporters about ten years ago,

 

"We may have to be satisfied with a top 5 place this year"

 

If clubs go out to finish in the top 5 then they will struggle. There are sides that go out beaten before they kick a ball and that, we hope, will never happen to an Enfield Town side.

 

There are others that believe they are champions by right! Consider Pinnacle and that Abbey crowd that were on here early on.

 

I note in your programme that the editor considered we are "champions elect". A championship is not an election! In order to win the championship we have to go out to win every game and that is what we aim to do.

 

Many Romford supporters have come onto this board criticising the play yesterday. Questioning why we are top of the league etc. I thought that they saw a different game to me. Yesterday we were a class above Romford. We lost one of our most influential and hard working players early in the game and had to revert to 4 4 1 with Lee Smith dropping back to take Rudi's place. You had a man advantage in a crucial position but bearly troubled Chopper, who once or twice decided to juggle with the ball rather than make clean saves.

 

For most of the second half we were playing against the wind and the lashing rain which increased in strength to the extent that high clearances were almost landing behind the player kicking the ball. Yet I dont think one of your forwards ever got past our back 4 without being caught offside.

 

As the second half went on we were getting more into the game with beautiful one touch football. When your player got sent off, not for a late challenge but, I thought, for retaliation. We looked as though we were more likely to score another and there was nothing from Romford that looked threatening.

 

Look at the runs down the wing by Baldwin and Allen. Your wing backs just could not defend against them. Dean Green was laying the ball off tremendously and Paul Campbell, Gant and Hall really work well together.

 

Remember it was the first leg of a two leg tie and to come away 1-0 up is tremendous. It means that you have to come out to us next Saturday and there will be spaces at the back to exploit.

 

As for any ETFC player reading this. There was a Middlesex Senior Cup Final against Wealdstone in the sixties. At Lower Mead EFC lost 2-0 and the home fans were jubilant. The second leg was midweek at Southbury Road and at the end of the first half it was 0-0 and Wealdstone looked as though they had the cup won. EFC scored three goals in the next 45 minutes and won the cup. The tie is not over yet.

 

Dont forget you have to beat Romford again next week! (And B &P the week after).

We always criticise our boys when they aren't doing the business but this is what Steph thinks IN SUMMARY and I agree 100%. Talking of attitude, don't forget that the antics of your management is losing your club much needed funds. I for one am sick of going to games where your tactics appear to be "let's try and get one of them sent off" or to kick the crap out of any Enfield Town player that moves. If I go to an away game at the Ford Sports Ground I will pay to get in but that's it. No programme, no 50/50, no burger, no money in the collection bucket and no trip to the bar. Not sure whether you get any bar money as you are tenants but I wouldn't drink there in any case because the Eva Hart is so good and on my way to the ground.

I thought it was just me, but when one of your supporters came round with the "new ground fund" bucket, another Town supporter said he would not contribute because of the antics of your bench. I have to agree with him 100%.

I have no axe to grind with most Romford fans but until things change on the pitch you will get as little of my money as I can get away with.

Yeah, right. We took a conscious decision to drop to this level. If we hadn't, Lazarou would probably still not have let go. Enfield FC, thanks to that git have dropped to this level by being relegated twice. Yes they are equipping themselves OK at this level but that is only really from this season. It took Dave McDonald and host of ex-Enfield (and, don't forget, Enfield Town) players to steady the ship. If you think getting relegated twice is "equipping themselves OK" then you are sadly mistaken.

Have to disagree with one comment made by Cyclops. We did not drop to this level, we started at this level.

 

We have no devine right to win promotion and we have never been any higher in the pyramid than ESL.

 

What we would like to do is win the league and it is up to Jim and the team to do it for us. However, if it doesn't happen this year, then so be it. It will not be for the want of trying.

 

We have a settled side which is currently top of the league, have only let in 14 goals and are scoring regularly. That's why we are top and nothing else. It's a shame some people think we shouldn't be where we are. However, reseults speak for themselves.

 

We have a team of dedicated volunteers who are working tremendously hard to get the ground ready for an inspection.

 

What's the reason behind being top of the league and getting a ground up to scratch? I think it must be down to hard work!

 

It's a shame that quite a few supporters from other teams feel that what we are trying to achieve somehow makes us feel as though we are more important than others.

 

PS - Loved Steph's essay - this was from a man who got so excited at the game yesterday that he decided to fall off a step and land on the seats! Hope you are OK?

I tell you why people resent ETFC. It's because we are successful and have a good support base. Others are jealous. Look at Man U. If they weren't successful you wouldn't get fans of other clubs slagging them off all the time. Jealous fane should stop resenting what Town have achieved, get off their backsides and try to do the same thing at their respective clubs.

Your website and support echoes the percentage of replies to this site. Well Done! The issue is the level of blame at everyone elses doorstep.Looking at issues With blinkers on feeds individuals like myself the odd moment of amusement.

 

Anyway, Off to see the end of songs of praise. If it is still on.

 

Allowed out tomorrow, and invite all fellow anoraks to join me at Stratford BR station with packed lunches at the end of platform 8!
