Romford 0 Enfield Town 1

Gate. 229

After the way Romford nailed Wabbey you could have been fooled into thinking Romford would give Town a game. Wrong.

For the first 5 minutes Romford dominated and then in the 8th minute Town got a free kick and Lee Smith got a glancing header home past the diving Horne 0 – 1. The quality of the town was devastating and Romford reverted to normal bullying play. The home duggout started squirting water at Paul Campbell whilst taking a throw in.

The least said about the ref the better. Late tackles on skilled players seemed to be all Romford had to offer and Town players got no protection from the ref. Rudi Hall unfortunately took the rules of the game into his own hands and got a red card for retaliating with a member of the Dug out a few minutes after the original incident. After Rudi went off Romford appeared pleased and Their 11 men seemed more able to cope with the quality of towns 10 men. This pretty much ended the game as a spectacle.

The best other chance of the first half came to Romford who had a free kick saved by Chopper despite the fact he had the sun in his eyes.

In the second half the winds came and the heavens opened with driving rain and lightening and the players played on. Surely the wind would make the 13th man out there for Romford and carry the ball past Chopper for Romford. But despite the torrid conditions Romford could not do anything. Their best chance was a fumble by Chopper in a mass of players which still missed.

Riley came on for Campbell and Pamplin went on for “the Goal Machine”.

Towards the end a Romford player was sent off for a late and cynical tackle on Matty Negus.

Barkingside were noisy spectators after their game was postponed. WHY were they pitchside with glass bottles? Shame on the bar staff!

The better team won today and deservedly so! Well Done Town. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/ladys-man.gif" alt="" />

You played football. At Rush Green were you, or over Central Park.

Behave you mugs. After that I have to conceed ( no excuse the weather or referee) it was poor. In fact you were poor.

Perhaps Barkingside boys were bang on.

1. How are you top of the league?

2. You have a budget most Southern league 1 teams would die for.

Hold on how many of your players would even put a shirt on without a pound coin as an incentive...................Whoops

Management communication skills NIL. The rumour had it you went in for one of our Cowley boys. Play and enjoy the game. They do and try.

Up the Boro! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

Well Wabbey were top and you beat them by playing football and with ease!

We are top and you didn't even come close to beating town today with the tactics you employed so we must be better than Wabbey? Or were your tactics wrong? Forget the cynical stuff and play like I know Romford can. You may not win but the respect for the right reasons will be there.

And Barkingside well yes they should enter choir of the year competition! Good Sound, good fun! As for football Barkingside I'm sure we'll find out soon enough!

Southern League so you think we will make it then?

1. By only losing one game & conceeding only 14 goals (not rocket science is it!)

2. So what's wrong with that, all raised by the fans and some local sponsorship & a lot of hard work by certain members in their own time given for free.

As for the players and the £, so you are telling me that if the Romford squad were offered money to play they would all refuse?

Management skills? think you need to look in your own dug out first!

My god Compo you sound like a right sad bitter, biased and twisted git. When has a bit of water ever hurt anyone, and where did you dream up all these late tackles from.

Also Im sorry if the Barkinside lads upset you, will tell them not to come and support another fixture in the league next time.

"Normal Bullying play" there are rules against slander mate and we could do with the money. We had a great day with most of your fans so why do you need to behave like this.

Are there any FA regulations about 'technical areas'?

Whats the point of having technical areas painted right up to the playing surface??

Can a ref overrule this technical area (seemingly painted at random),and force the bench to stand further away from the pitch?

Could the ref have instructed those in the 'technical area' to sit down on the bench yesterday? If so,everything would have been easily diffused.
