So it seems the ROCKY road to ruin continues. At last others are waking up and smelling the coffee. How many more games is Baptiste going to miss sitters, there have been too many this season. This guy is supposedly a "conference veteran" so should be scoring goals for fun at this level. I am afraid he has not impressed me at all and is consistently under performing. Some will say at least he is getting in the positions to score but it is no good if he cannot finish. And he is too lightweight and easily tackled and brushed off the ball. Methinks a spell of benchwarming is due but is CK man enough as he knows Rocky will go off and sulk somewhere. I think Pullman should be given a chance. How many games has he actually started for us? He seems to score wherever he is loaned out to and we keep recalling him but he never plays. But I guess all managers have their favourites however badly they are playing!

Its all good throwing the criticisms at Rocky, but in the fickle world of football its easy not to praise as well.

 

Rocky is a class player, its not just about scoring them, its assisting as well, and being creative, his partnership with Che has been our most dangerous since Leon and Phil. His vibrance in the squad has been proved from the moment he joined us, and it was no freak that our turn in results last season co-incided with his arrival.

 

He has as well shown loyalty to the club, believing that the club will return to Hartsdown Park, and that is something he wants to be part of. When you work in the uncertainties of not knowing if your going to have a job next week, its bound to affect performances occassionally, but lets not forget the man has double figures in the goal tally, something not achieved by anyone last season at the club

 

So lets give Rocky, and all members of our WONDERFUL squad a break, afterall, we never know when it could all be over.

Agree with JohnKirby. At the end of last season Rocky was getting all the praise and Che was getting all the stick - no one doubted that Rocky was a Conference class striker when he was playing in the Conference. OK he's going thorugh a lean spell as far as goals go - same thing happens for many top goalscorers. I've watched him closely after the criticism he got at the start of the season and he does work dammed hard for the team for much of the game. Sure, he suffers from fatigue and frustration which can sometimes look lazy but he's remained forever loyal and we are very lucky to have him in the team, especially given our current circumstance. So come on - STOP KNOCKING ROCKY. It will all start happening for him soon. Not wanting to knock Pullman, but from the few games I've seen him play, I'd have Rocky start every game ahead of him.

Rocky had a decent game.

Won a few headers and is quality in this league.

 

Yes he missed a couple of opportunities, as did Moses as did Che,as did Ross.

 

Rocky helps makes the chances, not least by his skill on the ball.

He also worked as hard as anyone yesterday.

 

Last season our top league scorer had 6 goals.

This year Rocky has 10;and helped Che get 12.

 

He is not an out and out targetman either.

 

Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion,and indeed many would disagree with my own opinion of Bill Edwards this season,but imo think any criticism of Rocky is harsh.

Being a broken down striker,it is not always the strikers job to score everytime he has the ball at his feet,we are talking of TEAM game here.Yes Rocky is at the moment in need of a goal or two and when it comes for him he will be better for it.You have to look at what a player puts into 90mins,not how many he scores or missis.

By the way, has he played EVERY game this season? I cannot remember a game where he has not played. Given that, and his work rate, and his unselfishness at setting other people up with sitters and beautifully placed passes, and his running all over the place, attacking but also defending, and some of the inspired little touches to and from in particular Clarkey and Oates and Peter and Moses, and staying with us when the going has got tougher and tougher, I would defy anyone to say any less than Rocky is a total legend and asset to the team and a true Margate star.

Yes he's played in every game (29 League/2 FA Cup/1 FA Trophy/3 League Cup & the abandonned KSC match) .. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he played in all four pre-season matches too.

We are talking about his finishing of late not the whole story,not his record of years gone by,not his workrate of which I agree is good.But and if you have seen his finishing of late you will see that it is very poor.If others think that his playing record should overshadow his failure to score simple goals then so be it. Personnally I dont.There is no need to be offensive either. People disagree with each other thats to be accepted and respected.If we cant agree to disagree then where would be the point in talking things out amongst us.

Lovepug,no-one seems to be abusing ANY player as far as I can read. It seems the only abuse seems to be coming from you to others on this forum. O.K. so you believe he cant do any wrong no matter what but others see things in a different light and if other are strong enough to air their opinions and stick with them in the face of replys like yours,then full credit to them.It is YOU who should stop abusing others view of things.

Lets not go too far on this subject.Rocky is a very good player,I would rather have him on our side than play for another side,he gives us options,somtimes not want the fans want but in every attack he is there,giving the ball or laying it off,if CK is happy with his performance that will do for me.
