Slough Town v Leyton MATCH THREAD

Very bad day at the office. I personally thought Leyton were a dreadful side and never really felt under any threat yet they took their limited chances. We were very poor with our key players never really getting into the game.

But then given my comments regarding the substitutions today I clearly know nothing so maybe I should just shut up.

Their officals were well out of order !!

their should never got involved with some of our supporters ! One comment really hurt me !

quote : Great to beat a team and a set of supporters who support a team that's has not even got its own ground) !!! a total [****!!****] !!!!!

This came from on of their club officals..talk about kicking a dog when its down....

Not a good one ...should have got in front in the first half...missed a few chances!

We don't like playing in high winds or a sticky pitch....

Just hope we can get a few points to steer us away from the bottom...we know the rebels can do it....just a bad day all round...it happens...

What you have to remember about that guy Chris

1. He is a short [censored]
2. He is ginger
3. His name is Rowly (wtf?)
4. Combine those three things together and the fact he is Director of Football at Leyton and it is blindingly obvious that he has no friends.

Not really surprising then that he was a bit of a tard.

I didn't think we played too badly in the first half , just didn't put our chances away. Second half was dreadful as was the pitch and the weather. Highlight of the second half was standing next to Martin and Radders moaning about the substitutions...then one of the subs goes and scores!

I personally think, after watching Leyton home and away this season they are one of the best organised sides i've seen.

Oh well, i prefer FA Trophy final to play offs!

I think most people were perplexed at the substitutions yesterday, I don`t want this to come across as slating Eddie or negative, but from what i see is that with substitutes they are always pre planned and not on how each individual player is playing. Why take Glen off and leave Mets and Spencer on who were both having terrible games. Glen always seems to be the make weight for the team when Veli comes on.

I thought taking Hodges off was right. He was having little effect and having been booked would have moaned his way to a sending off. Harris is always going to make way for Veli. It's hardly worth taking Mets off and brining on Hakki in his place is it?

I guess there's an argument that Spencer should have gone instead of Chopper but then Harris wasn't exactly setting the world alight yesterday either.

The substitutions weren't why we lost and I'm not sure different substitutions would have helped either. We should have been two up at half time and then played the second half without using our brains.

In my (very poor, I admit ) defence we weren't particularly moaning about who came on, rather who went off. I've noticed a couple of times that when the team aren't playing so well it always seems to be Harris and Hodges who get taken off, Harrow and Billericay being two examples, when others on the day are playing much worse.

Regarding the above comments about the 'afters' by the dressing-rooms after the final whistle...

The number 10 was given stick for the whole 90 minutes (which I joined in with, just so you know) but I think various comments by various Slough fans started things off by the dressing rooms. The number 10 came over and started kissing his badge etc. What are we to expect after he was being provoked no more than two or three yards away? The Leyton coach/member of staff who tried to restrain things said something along the lines of - "to be fair, you had been giving him stick the whole game". The Leyton 'keeper pulled the number 10 away into the dressing room, where they started to celebrate. Again, what else do we expect? Unnecessary maybe, but it happens. And again, various comments by Slough fans prompted the Leyton bloke to come out of the changing room and make a comment about taking the three points. Not sure who started the 'disagreements' between some of our fans and the Leyton officials in suits, but insults were flying both ways.

I guess what I'm saying is that neither side is blameless, and we at Slough Town have a few sore losers who perhaps try to stir things up by the gates at the final whistle. At the same time, the actions of various Leyton representatives were unnecessary, and it all goes beyond 'banter' sometimes - banter such as (fairly harmless) comments from behind the goal (which their keeper seemed quite amused with!)

slough were terrible we did'nt play right when we had the wind behind us. when leyton had the wind they played it right and whenever they got the ball they kicked straight to their forwards whereas we were too elaborate at times and kept passing too much.

Let's face it, we missed three sitters in the first half. We were always going to struggle in the second half against that wind and on that pitch, so why did we keep trying to pass our way out of trouble, mistakes were inevitable. Surely we should of played three up front, and tried to hold the ball up and play the football in their half, instead of fannying about with it on the edge of our box. Ooh er missus.

There's only one or two little things which are letting Seedel down at the moment and that's his first touch and his finishing. I know he can do both and will continue to support his cause.

His close control and ability to hold players off is immense though, and I've been a big fan of his since a reserve game at Chesham last year where he was awesome.
