Farnham Sports Field Available

Burnham Lad

Recommended Posts

More big notices have appeared on the verge outside the Sports field in Farnham to say that it is up for grabs. I did not have time to look at it as I was passing, but at a glance it looks quite a big site. Given the situation, where compromises may be called for, is there any reason why that could not be a possibility for a ground? Has anybody got any better information, like has it been considered already?

Wouldn't mind a stadium there as it's right around the corner! Farnham is heavily Labour though from what I understand. All three councillors in the ward are Labour, but would they be opposed to developing that site?

But it is a sports field and up for something - can Staines Rebel confirm he knows it is up for sale?

Ian, I am not sure if it is in South Bucks if Gary is right.....

If it is available, I am sure that a good application with Local facilities would be a better bet than yet more unusable offices, although Mr Prescott may have his eyes on it for housing.

But I think with our seasonal cup successes and no trouble at our matches, we have a good message to put over.

I just don't want us to miss any chance, given that suitable land is like finding gold dust - at least this would not involve a change of use....

the three Slough/Farnham councillors are all labour, including one Rob Anderson, but looking at the map it appears that this ward does not cover the Farnhams (Common and Royal) . The sports field is definitely in South Bucks as it is north of me. (farnham royal) It is the biggest ratepayer in the ward acording to some bumf i was reading. Will go re read the council minutes, but they were well out of date.

I think the lease may be up on the old Ford club

house which is situated in the left hand corner of the park, the other signs are advertising for the Pennanian Rugby Club which is also in the park along with Phoenix football club

before we get all excited like a majority of people did before the MASSIVE, HUGE, LARGE Wycombe game, does anyone know how we'll raise the a) couple of million for the site and B) couple of million to build a stadium?

Interesting question KOC! However, there are certain things we have to come to terms with - if we accept what you said as an argument we might as well curl up and die now.

I would argue that to have a proposition to put to the council and to any financial backer, be it Mr Deaner or any other, we need to have some land where it could be done. Sure as hell the current council ain't going looking for us! So it is a matter of leaving no stone unturned for finding something, even if not 100% suitable. At present we have nothing.

So let's see if there is any possibility - if it were to be possible, then perhaps we could light up Mr Deaner's interest, or some other financial group. Perhaps we could try and get a stake in it via the Trust. Who knows, but if we just give up at every obstacle, Park football here we come!

Before we get too excited about anything, we need to pin Martin Deaner down and establish exactly waht his intentions for the future are. We need to do this soon, another summer of turmoil is looming ever closer.

This is prime green belt land in south bucks planing area, it's the same situation as wexham park is in at the moment...don't want to go down the same road again !

Slough needs a community stadium ! this is the tack we should be taking ...on a brown field site within the boundaries of Slough...

Farnham Park is a very nice and good area..but

could be difficult to overcome the locals and south bucks council...

The old fuel storage area at Langley Station looks ideal ... ?? have spoke with David Macissac to look at that site....see what happens...

As a individual I have also asked David Munkley deputy leader to get the trust and club back around a table ! to move things on....let see what happens...

The only concern I have with a 'community stadium' is they (the council) may try to include the athletics track around the pitch, in which case, we're realistically on a no starter anyway as we'll not be able to go higher than the Conference South.

If they allow us a pure football stadium with training facilities which we can use and be used for community events and teams, then great.

Yes true Gary...The atletics have there own stadium , so apart from athletics a community stadium...for all...even the rugby club...tobe included as far as i am concerned...Wycombe and Reading both have that special grass that includes a certain ammounts of plastic grass and the ground is sand based makes for a good surface and a good pitch too...

cheers chris s
