Hmmmm....a couple of points resulting out of this thread....

Firstly, this rubbish:-

"Then that just proves how committed the board are about the future of GNFC...(not very). In order to develop the club they needed to invest heavily to obtain experience and knowledge, not someone who 'might' do a good job and 'might' stick it out long term, or 'might' know what he is talking about...!! We need a solid Manager with propects, not someone who is trying to build a CV in managerial experience.. and using us as a stepping stone..!!"

Invest heavily ?? Where is the money coming from then ?? There's no Jack Walker or Abramovich (?) here ! It don't grow on trees you know.......you must be a student !!

Secondly.....someone said that they had never heard of Paul Sturrock until he managed Plymouth.......well, he used to play for Dundee Utd & Scotland, so any footie fan should have known that !! and he is now famous for managing the mighty Sheff Wed....and not doing to bad a job too (and they ain't no money either !!)....

..and the moral of the story ???

Stop 'kin moaning and give the man a chance !!!

I thank you.....

Hands up in mercy that was me. I hadn't heard of him but the point I was trying so desperatly hard to make was that he never had any real managerial experiance and look where he got them.

Perhaps the same could happen here. And yes I am a self respecting footy fan and no I hadn't heard of him. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/whistling.gif" alt="" />

Should give him a go but i.m.o. this appointment is not the best you could have made.

Appointing someone like Andy Hessenthaler/Gary Hill would have meant full-time football next season and shown the Club was really going for it.

Just a quick question for both of you, which I know has been repeated ad nauseam in various forms on here in the last few days, but is still clearly relevant:

Do you know the full list of candidates who actually applied for the job?

Why would appointing a different manager have meant full time football next season ?

Either we have the finances to go full time or we dont - pure and simple. It doesnt matter whether its Liam, Andy Hessanthaler or Gary Hill, the same situation applies.

As has been said previously (many a time) - going full time on our current attendances would potentially be financial suicide.

It will only happen when we are good & ready.
