Its Liam Daish !!

Recommended Posts

People may have been looking for a "Big Name" appointment to give us all a "lift". I'll confess to feeling a little deflated after all the hype of the last few days,

Appointing someone like Andy Hessenthaler/Gary Hill would have meant full-time football next season and shown the Club was really going for it.

Liam Daish isn't a "big name" in managerial circles and its unclear to me if the team will remain part-time or go full-time next season. I suspect the best the Fleet can afford is 3 training sessions a week.

Having said that, Liam Daish has a fantastic opportunity to take the Club forwards. Andy Ford hardly had bundles of managerial expereince when he started and just look what he acheived.

Liam has the basis of a good squad and if he can add a few quality players, there is no reason why he can't do well. Good luck Liam Daish.

So then to summerise we shouldn't put the guy down, he's not even had a game yet and not been given a chance to prove himself.

Had anyone heard of Paul Sturrock before he joined Plymouth? Not to mention countless other managers

We should wait and see what happens, give until say the end of the season and then make up your minds. But for now we have mid-table to aim for and a trophy I can think of fans in worse positions.

Get behind Liam and the boys.

I have just got off the phone to a Havant fan mate of mine, and he told me Liam is a hard b***ard, and urges players to get in there and kick the s**t out of opponents...!! Maybe a bit too graphic, but not very encouraging for our style of play..!

Basically, he laughed when I told him we appt Daish, and his passing comment was 'Good Luck with him'.. So I'm still undecided/worried..!!

Maybe he is just what we need to become more aggressive as an attacking team..?

Anyone else remember SoccerAM a few years back when Hells Bells had the weekly Daish (hard as nails) slot?

Hard, agressive attacking style... doesn't bode well for Dukebox!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Nor the recent slightly improved disciplinary record!

Well that must mean Macca and Skins will be first names on the team sheet then!

Hi guys Cookie here, Just got home from work and seen the name your directors have appointed, Am extremely glad CK didnt go to you for 2 reasons really, Firstly because he has stuck with us with his great loyalty and is a most proficient and experienced manager .He has a cracking record to go with him wherever he goes. Secondly because of the council decision being imminent it would have done our cause no good whateoever to have him leave at this point in time.

I dont know this Daish guy but his record dosent seem up to much and am truly amazed that it is a man with his unproven record that has been appointed. Would have thought there were others out there that could and would do a good job for you and who have better pedigrees too.

Some say give him a chance so perhaps I should not put him down too much, as you all shouldnt. Should give him a go but i.m.o. this appointment is not the best you could have made. Hope all goes well for you though. Your club have been magnificent in our cause and I cant ever imagine me personnaly playing with banter with your lads even if we get back to playing you again.(Dreams eh!)

Good luck

Cookie

Today was the supposedely the day for the decision., Who knows when we are going to get it. Dont somehow feel to confident but at least with yours and others help we can say we gave it our best. Still some hope though. Could go either way I suppose. Its just having a council like ours dosent inspire much confidence.

Excellent - What a great welcome to Mr Daish.

I don't know what some of the people on this forum want. Andy Ford delivered us 7 years of continued success on the field and off the field with continual increased average attendances, but that was not good enough for some.

Liam Daish had the pedigree on the pitch, and his record off it , admitably at a lower level , is acceptable. But before a ball is kicked under his reign at Stonebridge Road, he is getting negative comments.

get it into your heads we are a small time club in this league off the field at the moment, and Mr Daish at the moment suits us perfectly. He is young , ambitious and yes, probably cheaper than a few of the other options.

But,if he can deliver Conference standard football at Stonebridge Road for the next few seasons, then he will be a success. Lets hope whilst he is doing that we can become more proffessional in our set up, and that attendances continue to rise.

Lets give him a chance.

The king is dead, long live the King

come on you Liam Daishs' reds

Must admit, I'd never heard of him until now, especially as a manager but don't forget nobody had heard of a certain person who took over at Hartlepool many years ago as his first managerial appointment. His name was Brian Clough. So as far as I'm concerned, we should let the man do his stuff and give him a fair chance. Oh, and sing our heads off for him as well.

Good luck, Liam, welcome to The Fleet.
