""On the evidence of Saturday’s poor performance, the Fleet’s need for a new manager assumed even greater urgency as the side struggled to overcome Histon, a mid-table Southern League, Premier Division club."

We didn't play that badly did we??

Histon are not a mid table side, if they win their games in hand they'll go top of the league

As for the 'did we play that badly?' comment, yes we did. We were shocking in the first half and thoroughly deserved to go in one down.

Yes but some of us were rather grateful of that.

25/1, 25/1, 25/1! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I remember him not picking up Peter Mortley in the cup game allowing him to thump in the equaliser.
Seems to have the qualifications on paper but not much real experience.

Are you talking about the FA Cup game where we knocked out Colchester in the 1st round proper, with a free kick from Jacko, which everyone expected was destined for Mark Munday's head, but curved straight in & a Peter Mortley thunderbolt which the keeper could only parry up into his own net?

If so, Peter's wasn't an equalizer, but the 2nd in a 2-0 win. Sorry to be a pedant.

What a day that was. Police tried to segregate it, but I have a video of the highlights still somewhere & dear old Nigel (now deceased) is clearly visible bang in the middle behind both goals going absolutely mega-mental each time we score. And how it continued ... 2 games where we ugly sistered the Press's darling, Cinders, a draw in the eerie mist & a 3-0 thumping on the coldest night in living memory, followed by that day at Villa Park: Chris Weller, iguanas & a wonderful double page in the Sunday Torygraph of all bloody papers. I reckon the female reporter fancied Micky Cotter.
